Ok so I have finally pretty much decided what and where I want to get my tattoo.

The design is this:

http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x208/ilovedumdums89/tat3.jpg

The only change is that inside will be either the word faith or the word love I am not sure yet.

My questions are:

1. About how long would a tat like this take of actual tattooing time? Then what about all the placement and care instructions other stuff that has to happen before and after? How long will it probably take total?

2. How much, about, do you think this tattoo would cost? I live in the US, north Florida to be more specific. Its all black ink. Umm I know other things effect price like the artist/shop doing it and all but just a ballpark figure would be great.

Thanks in advance for the answers. I appreciate it.

Oh by the way, that is about actual size. Also I don't think this makes any difference but it is going on my ankle.

Most tattoo artists have a per hour charging system. The artist I see is £55 per hour. Your design shouldn't take more than 40 minutes max .

1. maybe a little over 45 mins. but it could take up to as long as 85 min bcuz of the word and straigt lines.
before:
Go to a professional artist, not a friend working out of his kitchen or basement.
Choose a design that is right for you.
Start taking Vitamin C and Zinc to boost your immune system.
Stay away from alcohol for 72 hours before your tattoo.
Make sure you a free of any virus or infections.
Visit more than one shop to make the best choice of artists.
Check a prospective artist's portfolio, and watch them work.
Work within your budget. Be upfront about how much you can spend.
Ask if you need to make an appointment first with the artist.
Listen to your artist's suggestions. They might have some good ideas.
If you make an appointment, be there. If you can't, let them know.
Tips:
Alcohol thins the blood. If you drink before you ink, you're going to bleed heavily. This makes it very difficult for your artist to do clean work.
If you have a cold or virus, your immune system will be low, making it difficult for your tattoo to heal. Wait until you are healthy.
As the saying goes, 'Good tattoos are not cheap, and cheap tattoos are not good.'

after:
Remove bandage after 2 hours (do not rebandage)
Wash tattoo with your hand (make sure hand is clean) using warm, soapy water. Rinse with cold water. Don't over soak your tattoo. Keep out of the direct spray of the shower. Pat dry, DO NOT rub with towel.
For 3 to 5 days or until tattoo is healed, apply Vitamin A&D Ointment or Bacitracin or Zinc Oxide Ointment 3 to 4 times daily after washing tattoo. Keep tattoo moist. If allergic to these ointments, use a water based lotion such as Curel.
Tattoo will flake. DO NOT pick at the flakes or you may pull the color out. Try not to let clothing rub on your tattoo while it is healing.
NO swimming or suntanning until healed. Apply a high SPF sunblock to tattoo after healed to prevent fading.

2. heres a place u could calculate it:
http://www.kent-tattoo.com/eng/harga_tattoo.php
The artists there can approximate the price of a tattoo with a description, and can work with any budget (within reason). The final cost of a tattoo will be decided before the tattoo process begins. A general rule of thumb for pricing a tattoo is: something about the size of your balled up fist is going to cost around $130.00.

but i'm gonna say $140 for the word.

it would probably take an hour or two, and the price can range from place to place, so look around and see what it costs. Also make sure the place you go to has experienced people. Tattoos are permanent, so be 100% sure you want that specific design in that specific place.

I think God or Peace would be good words to consider too, or even your name, it's going to be on you, isn't it? lol

and if you have any questions, just ask a person who has lots of tattoos on them! I'm sure they would love to tell you!

45-90 minutes, depending on the text for the word you use. $125, at most at a good parlor.

that's a really nice tattoo, be preapred for some pain though, ankles hurt A LOT. after care, you'll need to put unscented lotion or tattoo goo on it for about 10 days keeping it very moist, letting it dry out will hurt and make it look bad. when i got my first tattoo, i put saran warp over it when i went anywhere for a lognt ime to keep it moist longer, and it helped a lot. you won't be able to go swimming for about 2 weeks. when you shower, lather soap ABOVE the tattoo and use water to sort of rinse the soap down through your tattoo, putting soap directly on it will probably hurt for the first few days.

Unless it's going to be very large, that tattoo should take less than an hour and should cost no more than $100, at the very most.
