I have several recurring themes and images in my dream and it really bugs me. I figure if they keep coming back they must mean something or contain some sort of message and I'd like to know what really :)

1) Fish. I have a phobia of fish in real life although whether this came before or as a result of the dreams I don't know. I can't think of any logical reason why I'm scared of fish, or recall any traumatic events linked to fish in my childhood. In my dreams I usually dream about pet fish and they are usually multiplying rapidly or growing very big.

2) Dirty toilets!! Often I dream of looking for a toilet but finding they are all dirty, broken or overflowing. Or I start to use one and then find there are lots of people who can see me.

3) Trains. I went through a stage of dreaming about getting on the wrong train a lot but now its more to do with stations and getting to the right platform on time.

Can anyone shed any light on what these dreams might mean?

1. Fish:
To see fish swimming in your dream, signifies insights from your unconscious mind. Thus to catch a fish, represents insights which have been brought to the surface. The fish is also an ancient symbol of Christianity and Christian beliefs. Consider also the common phrases "like a cold fish", "fish out of water" or something that is "fishy" about a situation. It may also imply a slippery or elusive situation.

To dream that you are eating fish, symbolizes your beliefs, spirituality, luck, energy and nourishment. It is food for the soul.

To see a dead fish, signifies disappointment and loss of power/wealth.

To dream of cooking fish, indicates that you are incorporating your new realizations with your spiritual feelings and knowledge. If you are cleaning fish, then it suggests that you are altering your emotional expression in a way that will be presentable to others. You are censoring yourself and not expressing how you completely feel.

2. Toilet:
To see a toilet in your dream, symbolizes a release of emotions or getting rid of something in your life that is useless. If you are cleaning the toilet, then it means that you are starting to shed your shell or lose your inhibitions.

To see a clogged toilet in your dream, signifies that you are holding in and keeping your feelings to yourself. Your emotions have been pent up too long.

To see an overflowing toilet in your dream, denotes your desires to fully express your emotions.

3. Trains:
To see a train in your dream, represents conformity and go along with what everyone else is doing. You have the need to do things in an orderly and sequential manner. In particular, if you see a freight train, then it refers to the burdens and problems that you are hauling around.

To dream that you are on a train, is symbolic of your life's journey and suggests that you are on the right track in life and headed for the right direction. Alternatively, you have a tendency to worry needlessly over a situation that will prove to work out in the end..

To dream that you are the engineer, signifies that you are in complete control of a particular situation in your waking life.

To dream that you miss a train, denotes missed opportunities or nearly escaping your death.

Recurring Dream Themes

2016-12-17 11:48:58 · answer #2 · answered by cheathem 4 · 0 0

The dream is reflecting your situation in life, your fears and your concerns about approaching the right way to go about it.

The dream of fish is reflecting your fears and this is affecting most areas of your life making it 'dirty' or a mess we could say. The people represent society around you.

The platforms are representing your worries how to take the first step to get out of this situation or fear that is upsetting you. Getting to 'the right platform on time' is reflecting your feelings/urgency to do something about it soon.

Your dream is a guidance dream. You need to go to get help regarding the phobia you have, take the first step and get help and sort it all out so you can find peace and live without fear.

1: Fish = spirit/soul, a person; a person's motive or intent, (something 'smells fishy' or 'fishing for info' etc) also other things;
***BUT in parallel to your real-life fear of fish, i'd say in the first dream the fish represents none of the above, but instead, "fears" worries, or concerns that you have, in real life that are "multiplying" or increasing in intensity, i.e., 'growing very big'. these could be normal concerns like bills, or caring for & providing for your children (if you have any); your relationship with your spouse or whomever, your job situation et cetera. These normal, everyday problems are taking control over you, or increasing out of hand, either from a natural standpoint, or from just by you simply worrying over them and therefore, in some respect "growing very big."
If you worry a lot, find ways to de-stress, and be more confident in handling these issues. Don't worry, it can't change the situation and can only lead to increased stress and turmoil.

2: toilet = bathroom/restroom; place of cleansing; relief,
this is a place in life where youre at, where you are trying to change, to grow, to 'cleanse' or rid yourself of problems, issues and/or struggles. you cannot find 'anywhere' suitable to do this as you always feel as you are under the 'microscope'. You cannot 'work on you' while under the watchful eye of others as it feels as though all of your emotions and stuggles are exposed.
In this scenario, you need to find a place where you're comfortable, where you have peace, so you can take some time for yourself, and change the things you need to, (personally or in a realtionship type situation perhpas); as you need peace of mind in order to move forward.

3. trains = continuity; conected; transportation (obviously)
This is about direction; choices in life. What are your goals? What's your agenda? This dream concerns your insecuriteis and worries over not reaching your goals 'in time'. you feel lost and unsure about which direction to take. And if you will ever reach those things that you desire.
In this case, you also need to take time for yourself. Think over those things that you have set your heart on accomplishing. Re-evaluate your game plan; weigh your options. You need to decide which things are those worth pursuing, and those that are not as important and can therefore be discarded. Too many desires lead to distractions and of not accomplishing anything. Be confident in the choices you do make, and go with it. I'm sure that you'll succeed.

this is just my opinion; take with a grain of salt.

According to Dreamcrowd:

To see bait in your dream, denotes that you may be fishing for a deal or a compliment. It may also indicate your desire to lure or entice someone.

To see urine in your dream, signifies feelings you have rejected. To dream that you are urinating, symbolizes a cleansing and release of negative or repressed emotions. Urination is symbolic of having or lacking basic control in your life. To dream that you are urinating in public, symbolizes a lack of privacy in your affairs or your need to make a public apology or confession. See also: Urination

1. Some dream books say that dreaming of fish means an increase of wealth or good fortune. Your phobia of fish, however, puts an interesting spin on your dream. Your dreams of fish multiplying or growing big means you feel you are getting somewhere, whether it be earning plenty of money at a job, or getting grades and accolades at school. But your fish phobia comes through, meaning you don't fully trust the sources of your success. You may be earning money, but you fear there is a catch somewhere. You may be doing well in school, but you fear it's somehow not right.
You need to relax and learn how to separate the success from the fear. Bank your earnings into savings, so if you quit or lose your job you have something to show for it and something to live on while you find another. Realize that the skills you are learning in your current educational program, such as how to study, organize your time, get assignments done on time, can be applied to several different careers if you change your program at all. And always remember that most of the time, fish pretty much mind their own business. Maybe you should take a trip to an aquarium and notice how many fish never ever go out of their way to look back at you. They really don't care if you fear them or even see them. Dead fish at the market don't care if you exist. Fish at the pet store don't care what you do as long as you don't bug them. Learn to accept they exist, and move on. (Hey, I'm a Pisces, I should know.)

2. Searching for a toilet and only finding dirty ones means you are getting to be too picky or even anal retentive about doing day-to-day tasks a certain way, and it's even bugging you that you can't do utilitarian tasks your own personal way every time. It means you are 'sweating the small stuff', or 'making mountains out of molehills', or just plain being annoyed at things that aren't big deals but they have become so to you. You may have even demonstrated bad behavior in public over these small irritations, and subconciously you are realizing that people are noticing your little fits over things like long lines at the checkout at noon on a Saturday at Wal-Mart (my current personal pet peeve - they are sooo making the money, hire enough cashiers!) or people getting in your way when you are trying to get anywhere, or other people's messy desks at work or cluttered houses. You are seeking cleanliness and sanitaion, but not finding it and by the way, it's not your job to clean up other people's messes!
The best thing you can do is calm down, relax, and stop letting these little things bug you so much. I used to clean toilets for a living at a National Park, and man, they could get really nasty! But now when I go to public toilets, it still bugs me to clean up after someone else, but I am not afraid to flush and wipe the seat in a public toilet, especially when the line for the girls room is out the door! (And make it a habit to go to the bathroom last thing at bedtime.) Learn to focus on simply getting the little things on your to-do list done, without devoting so much of your energy getting annoyed at little things. There is Zen in sweeping the floor, cleaning the bathrooms, making what was once very unsanitary now very clean, and you were the instigator or the tool in the hands that made the dirty clean.

3. Trains are transportation to different places, in dreams they are ways to get to another realm. Being at the station in a dream means you are ready for a change or your next phase in life, but the problem of getting to the right platform has a lot of connection with your fish dreams - you think or feel you should be getting somewhere else, you think you should be getting your bliss in a different manner, you think or feel you should be earning your money by a different career, and you are ready to make that change but your current life, job, or educational circumstance is preventing you from getting to where you think you need to be. You are in a hurry to make changes, even though things currently are going well for you. You can give yourself some tools to help change this dream - such as realizing there is another train if you miss the first one, say to yourself, if I must be stuck here waiting for the next train, I might as well read that book I've been meaning to read. Let it be okay to focus on finishing what you are doing now.
An odd story along those lines - once upon a time I was driving daily to Los Angeles from the suburbs, and rush-hour traffic was killing me. So I made some tapes of all my favorite odd songs and weird 80's music, including kid's songs and funny country music, and whenever we got stuck in bumper-to-bumper, my brother and sister and I would sing these weird songs as loud as we could with the car windows wide open. It was fun to see all those fuming other drivers get even more annoyed at us having more fun than they were. I also made it okay to get off the freeway and take the scenic route along the beaches. We got home 2 hours late, but that's because we were checking out the sunset over the ocean. By turning lame situations we couldn't avoid into weird experiences, it made them go better. Instead of fuming at these little annoyances, find the humor and laugh at them. Next time you dream of a dirty toilet, tell yourself you have the power to flush. Next time you dream of a big fish, start thinking of someone you know who loves fishing and try to call them up and bring their gear to catch it. Next time you are in the station feeling late for your train, tell yourself it is okay to catch the next train if you miss this and maybe you could check out that cafe across the street. By changing your attitude a little, you can change the themes of these dreams.
