Well i don't think alot of people, including myself know very much about the religion to form an valid opinion. Alot of people draw on conclusions communicated by other people, which are sometimes unreliable. I, myself am trying to actually find out if anywhere in the Quran it puts the word Holy & War together, as some muslims claim. I read somewhere that infact they do not appear together and the true meaning of Jihad is personal struggle, a war with one self. I don't know, i could be wrong. Its interesting though.

Wow alot of people are getting personal after being asked a simple question!

I am not a Muslim. These are just my observations. It seems a very exclusive religion. That is, a very excluding religion. I have never seen an open house at the local mosque like there are at the Jewish Temple and the Orthodox Christian church.

The countries that are partly Muslim are rocked by violence toward non-Muslims. In Thailand violence is aimed at Buddhist monks and in the Philippines, this violence is aimed at Christians and Catholics.

The countries that are mostly Muslim, non-Muslim minorities are put to death. Darfur region of Sudan is a good example of this. Somalia is another example. Indonesia has east Timor where native Catholics are routinely killed.

The countries that are Muslim where the state religion is Muslim, the governments are not welcoming of non-Muslims. Saudi Arabia and Iran are good example of this. Movement of non-Muslims is closely monitored and "minders" accompany vissitors wherever they go so they don't see or say something they should not. (Things the governments don't want.) I think many non-Muslims fear Muslims. They have seen videos of stonings where one person is killed by a mob and have seen Muslims fly planes into buildings killing thousands of non-Muslims.

Finally, I see a lot of pride in the religion. Non-Muslims are called "infidels." I think this term should go the way of the "N" word. It is very demoralizing and the person who says it seems to have a false superiority. This is my impression. And I know that even though I expressed it politely and it is all true and visible in the news everyday, I will get many "thumbs down" and I will be reported for abuse.

Same as I do any religion that I don't practice myself...I don't think of it at all.

However, Islam isn't looking too good to the general public and I do wonder why moderate and liberal Muslims haven't come right out to condemn the words and actions of the fanatics that are behind the terrorist attacks and killings and such. If Islam is to be saved as a religion these people do need to say something.

I think it is a religion. I think it is pretty much like every other religion with some differences. I think it contains some good ideas and some bad. I think it has some good members and some bad.

Unfortunately, at this time in the history, there are a small percentage of Muslims who have gone insane and are trying to destroy the world. But I think it is probably a very small percentage.

Truthfully, I don't know much about Muslim religious doctrine. The face of Islam today, however, is not good. I guess I don't understand why many Muslims are telling us not to judge them all by the actions of a few, yet do not come out and condemn those who commit acts of terror. Is it fear? Or does some part of them deep down agree with what the terrorists are doing?

My honest opinion of Islam is:

I love the people of Islam. The religion itself teaches wonderful truths. I have never as of yet met an Islamic person that I did not think was a good person. I do not, of course, believe Islam is the one true religion. It is a wonderful path to bring one to good, however.

I do not share your enthusiasm for Islam.
The Yahoo sensors would delete my answer if I shared my opinion on that system of belief. There is, however, a well researched website or two that you can link to that will give you much food for thought about the Qur'an and Muhammad, and Islam:

This is one of the saddest answers I have to write. Islam denies Jesus as He is taught in the scripture. Islam hates all that is not of Islam..

Those who oppose Islam will be slain with a fierce slaughter. 33:60-61
Those who challenge the revelations of Muhammad will have a painful doom. 34:5
Fight disbelievers who are near you, and let them see the harshness in you. 9:123
Have no unbelieving friends. Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them. 4:89
Allah will bestow a vast reward on those who Jihad 4:74

I will pray that you find the true Way and turn to Him in repentance and receive Life... Jim

No more or less deluded than any other major world religion, especially one based on the nasty Abrahamic god.

But you are entitled to the same freedoms and freedom from oppression as anyone else, regardless of what you beleive.
