Lev. 18:22, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."

Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them"

1 Cor. 6:9-10, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

Rom. 1:26-28, "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper."

Homosexuality is clearly condemned by the Bible. It goes against the created order of God. He created Adam and then made a woman. This is what God has ordained and it is what is right. Unlike other sins, homosexuality has a severe judgment administered by God Himself. This judgment is simple: They are given over to their passions. That means that their hearts are allowed to be hardened by their sins (Romans 1:18ff). As a result, they can no longer see the error of what they are doing. Without an awareness of their sinfulness, there will be no repentance and trusting in Jesus. Without Jesus, they will have no forgiveness. Without forgiveness, there is no salvation.

What should be the Christian's Response to the Homosexual?

Just because someone is a homosexual does not mean that we cannot love him (or her) or pray for him (her). Homosexuality is a sin and like any other sin, it needs to be dealt with in the only way possible. It needs to be laid at the cross, repented of, and never done again.
As a Christian, you should pray for the salvation of the homosexual the same you would any other person in sin. The homosexual is still made in the image of God -- even though he is in grave sin. Therefore, you should show him same dignity as anyone else you come in contact with. However, this does not mean that you are to approve of their sin. Don't compromise your witness for a socially acceptable opinion that is void of godliness.

1 Corinthians 6:9 NIV Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders (the list continues into verse 10).
Interesting to note in verse 11, Paul says that the Corinthians were all the things listed, but have been washed, sanctified, justified by Jesus and all is forgiven.

Even though it doesn't mention homosexuality specifically: 1 Co 6:13 ...The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

Leviticus 18:22 NIV Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.

Romans 1:27 NIV In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

I am sure there are more somewhere, but I don't have a concordance with me.

1 Kings 14:24 -  And even the male temple prostitute proved to be in the land. They acted according to all the detestable things of the nations whom Jehovah had driven out from before the sons of Israel.
1 Corinthians 6:9, 10 -  What! Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom.
Duet. 23:17 - “None of the daughters of Israel may become a temple prostitute, neither may anyone of the sons of Israel become a temple prostitute."

And the reason that Sodom was destroyed - Genesis 19:4, 5 - "Before they could lie down, the men of the city, the men of Sod′om, surrounded the house, from boy to old man, all the people in one mob. And they kept calling out to Lot and saying to him: “Where are the men who came in to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have intercourse with them.”

I am not trying for points, or attempting to answer your question. What I want to convey to you is a bit of wisdom, if you need it.

Have a concordance handy. And use it a lot. When it comes to Sodom and Gomorrah, read what it says about them thoroughly. The common way of looking at those verses is that God judged them for being homosexual. I would differ from that point of view.

I believe that God judged them for not believing in His warning. If they did listen to God's message to them, they would have fled.

So not believing God is the reason why they were destroyed.

There are a lot of them, so I'll give you pages with references.

"Don't ever let anyone tell you that you are a bad person. You choose who you are and all of us have good in our hearts. Some of your actions may be bad but that doesn't make you a bad person."
"Like other violations of the law of chastity, homosexual activity is a serious sin."
