I don't know where you cut off to much but if it was around the perimeter of the carpet then either use some carpet seam tape to repair the damage or if you have your kicker you may be able to stretch it just enough to cover up the damage by covering it up with your trim ...... hope this helps

Cut a piece the size you need then take some of that silver tape and stick it on the back.( I forget what it is called) It should hold pretty good if it is near a wall and does not get to much traffic.

Place all the furniture against that wall where the carpet doesn't reach.....?

That depends on where the carpet is short. Would a metal strip cover it up? (the kind that is used when flooring is put down) Please be more specific.

go to carpet remnant store and get a matching color and patch it and you might not be able to tell it . good luck .
