What software did you use to write the DVD's? Is that software still on the computer? Could be that the software you used didn't finalize the disc so that more info could be copied to it - see if you can finalize or read the disc with that software.

Did you happen to mark the DVD's using a ball point pen? If so, the data is probably lost.

If your DVD media has failed you can't solve this problem... the information is gone. Or maybe it was never there in the first place. Did you check the disk after writing? Did you keep the disk in the cool and dark or did you leave it on the desk in sunlight?

If you get the same problem on another system then the problem is with your DVD media... if the other computer works then the problem is with your DVD drive.

You don't give much detail here.
Check to see if the DVD is scratched.
Another problem could be that microscopic bacteria ate the film that the data is stored on in that case it's gone.
Are you sure you put it in a DVD drive?
Are you sure the DVD isn't upside down?
Did you zip it? Do you have that zip program on your computer?
problem is without you being more detailed it's hard to know.

did you try to test it on another computer. maybe it is not the dvd itself but your computer. also, did you copy them as data files instead? that could be the problem. try the copy and paste option. instead.

You didn't mention if you can see the contents of the DVD, if you can see, then you can save. If you can not see, then your out of luck.
