I can see ways to agree and disagree with this quote, I was just wondering what others thought and why.

** "Where there is fear, there is also reverence." Agree or not?**

Fear - a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid.

Reverence - a feeling or attitude of deep respect tinged with awe; veneration.

So, I agree with the premise that where there is fear, a certain amount of reverence (awe) is present also. Most dictators have been feared and this fear does result in a certain amount of reverence or awe in that dictator' presence, decisions and leadership.

disagree

however, often the reverse is true-- where there is reverence, there is also fear. Think of elders-- I always respected and had reverence for my grandfather-- but a little scared too.

But I don't think its conditional. Reverence does not equal fear, it is not ALWAYS the case-- but often turns out to be that way.

Disagree. Reverence means respect or honor. We don't necessarily respect or honor those things we fear.

As an example: We fear being burglarized but we don't honor or respect the burglar.

I agree to an extent. However I can't seem to articulate my reasoning without confusion.
