Who are you? Really?

sometimes, yea. those close to me - always see the real me. (poor them!) but there are times when I don't - for myself, or to make a situation easier to get through. the older I get, the less I care to hide.

I don't believe there is a 'real' me. I am like water. At times I am hot, at others, cold. Sometimes I accept whatever 'space' there is left available to me. At others I am a glacier, bearing down on everything in my path so that in the end there is only Me.

Sometimes I delight, like snowflakes in the moonlight. But more often I go on for too long, like wet weather. Sometimes I nourish, sometimes I drown.

So which is 'real'? All of them. Or perhaps none, and they are all masks. And some people are unlucky enough to have to put up with more of them than others!

So do I choose the 'real' me consciously or is it something unconscious? Both I guess. I'm nothing if not fickle!

Great question my friend!

Interesting you ask.

Many Christians are so wrapped up in a "holy image" that they actually put on a spiritual "front", thinking that this is the "real them".

While it may look good and pios to others, God sees right through that. The best policy, even for witnessing, is honesty.

People would much rather see a Christian who is struggling, but never quits, than a smile-plastered, fake Christian who give the impression that we're supposed to be "to blessed to be stressed", and we're always, "blessed and highly favored".

Be real. Jesus was real.

Yes, I allow people to see who I am for real. Some people like me, some don't. Most of the people that don't like me are people from other beliefs. Does it bother me? No, not one bit.. because I am who I am and that's all I know how to be!

Others can see the real you if you allow it or not.

I would say no. But that's alright, in that "real" most likely refers to a personality, which I am quite content in saying that i do not possess. We lie to ourselves as much as we do to others in this regard. The only difference is that we fully realize that everything we present about ourselves is fundamentally a lie.

As a Pagan, I don't go around talking about my spirituality at work or among those whom I know it would start an argument with. I don't have to defend what I believe. With my husband and friends I am exactly who I am and don't hold back. It saddens me that I can't be open about my spirituality with my co-workers, but especially since I work for a Catholic company, I know I have to keep a lid on it.

I reveal the real "me" a little at a time, so nothing comes as a shock or surprise, but many have seen the real "me."
