I'd say 2 or 3 MAX. I'll give the same advise everyone else has given, make sure at least one is an online registry--if I can't attend a wedding (and lately that's happening more and more often) I'll go online and find their registry and order something off their registry without ever leaving my desk--most of the companies will even store the preferred shipping address, so it's totally brainless for me as a guest. Make sure that you also register for a wide variety of price ranges--not everyone is going to be able to get you that $300 Kitchen Aid/Bosch mixer or that $500 Dyson vacum cleaner. You need to have stuff like towels, utensils, etc., for people to choose as well.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

I would say that three registries are perfect.

When I registered, I registered by looking at who shops at what kind of stores. I knew there were going to be people who could not afford large gifts, and there would be people who liked to buy extravagant gifts.

So we started with Bed Bath & Beyond as they have LOTS to offer at VERY reasonable prices! The second registry was with JcPenney. Their prices are on the reasonable side, yet they still offer high end products. Our third registry was with Macy's. Their prices can be somewhat reasonable, but do tend to be on the high side.

By doing all three stores, I felt like there was a variety (especially price wise).

Registering at more than three places will look greedy, but registering at too few will give your guests far less options.

I hope this helps!
Good luck with your wedding and registry! :)

Most brides select 2 or 3 registries. 6 is a bit excessive. You can let people know where you are registered if they ask you directly, by word of mouth through friends and family, or in a bridal shower invitation, if someone has offered to host one. Never insert those slips of paper provided by the store into the wedding invitation though.

My Clients ask me this all the time:

You should have at least some gifts ranging from $0-20, $21-45, $46-70, $71-100, $and any on from there.
Anymore than 5 is too much, if you register at Target, it will have alot, Sears, and any other stores...

I would say if you have a small number of guests 2 registrys

I think three is the max for registries IMO.

I am having mine at Target and Amazon. I did have one with Bed Bath and Beyond but just transferred everything there to the other two registries.

2-3 registries is plenty - you may also want a mix of on-line registries (like amazon) and store registries (target, bed bath and beyond, etc). some older people won't feel comfortable with an on-line registry, so make sure you have at least 1 of your registries from an actual store.

I've heard that there really isn't too many for Wedding Registries... From what I understand the more places you choose the more people will appreciate... It gives them more options.

Two - but only if it is to offer an option for out of town guests or if they stores carry completely different merchandise. I went with ONE small simple registry.

U should have only one registry or at the most 2 if u expect a ton of guests, but no more than 2 is sufficent.

I think two, three tops, and they should be varied.

For example, Target is always a good choice, they have a good variety of everyday household goods, and they're easy to figure out, both in the store and online. Then someplace like Dillards or Pier One or any other kind of place that maybe has some unique or more "special occasion" stuff, like your china pattern, crystal and silverware.

"Registered at Target" reads easily. "Registered at Target and Linens 'n' Things" reads pretty easily.

"Registered at Target, Walmart, Amazon, Pier One, Dillards and Linens 'n' Things" is a bit much.
