Whats the best time to go blues fishing (NJ) Night or Day?

I only fish the day and I catch plenty of bluefish off of Long Island, yet I know someone who fishes nights and he catches the monster bluefish over 15 pounds. During the day, the biggest I catch is 12 pounds.

definitely night, alot of charter boats only have blue fishing at night and fluke fishing in the day. That coincides with their eating habits.
