there are companies that will install a gps system that lets you monitor current and past speeds and location, it costs around $50 a month, him just knowing that you know where hes going and where hes been and how fast he went might slow him down, this system is monitored through the internet

Buy a programmer and lower the speed cut off. However, this will still not stop him from going 65 or 70 in a residential neighborhood. It will only limit the fastest speed that he can go.

Since he is 19, let him pay his own bills. If he gets tickets, then he has to pay them, insurnace and all. Don't bail him out if he gets in debt. It may be hard love, but it may save his life.

The GPS units that are available will track his whereabouts and the speed that he is doing. You'll know, but what can you do? Other than pull the car if it is in your name.

Tough situation, speak to him first and let him know what you are going to do, if the speeding continues.

good luck.

Parental pressure: rule that 1st speeding ticket results in the KID paying for car and insurance and fines...

I'm sure that also in newer cars you could work through your mechanic to put a speed-limiter into the programming of the fuel injection, though I'm not a mechanic.

Ask your local mechanic about getting a GOVENOR>> on the engine/peddles or however it works.. You can then set the maximum speed the vehicle can go.. Altough, if it were my child a few parking tickets and higher insurance premiums would do the trick as well.. Don't pay for his insurance, tickets etc.. That will teach him fast....

He's 19. Time to take his own responsibility. Have him pay for insurance and a car then he will learn how expensive it is to speed all the time

Unfortunately we can't control what others do.
Talk to a good mechanic about that type of device.
Other than a device, I suppose losing his licence due to speeding tickets or crashing may be what he will experience. Walking and bussing to work might teach him to slow down.
He'll just have to suffer the consequences of his actions.........that's LIFE...

A driver's license suspension is a really good speed limiter. At 19, he's an adult, you know.

I drive trucks that are governed. A mechanic can adjust mant engines so they will limit the maximum speed.
