No, you have to wait until you get the final documentation (marriage certificate/register) from the court. The certificate the pastor or officiant gives you is NOT the legal documentation you'll need. That's just merely a "keepsake" certificate. You have to wait until the officiant signs off on the marriage license and returns it to the court. I believe the officiant is required to return the license to the court within a certain number of days. Once the court processes the license, you'll get a certified marriage certificate/register from them. Take that documentation to your nearest social security office and change it there and then go to DMV and change it there. After that, start calling all of your creditors, go to the bank and change it on your accounts, magazine subscriptions, pharmacy, doctor's office, etc. But make sure you keep that documentation handy because 90% of the creditors I called required that to be faxed to them before they would make the name change.

So obviously, by now you know that you'll need to wait until you're actually married before you start the process. But, I just wanted to add something somewhat related. Make sure that you book your honeymoon accomodations (particularly your flight!) under whatever name will be on your ID when you travel!!! A lot of times it's easier to do everything with your maiden name until you get back from the honeymoon.

you can change it before you get married but you would have to pay to have it changed. Once you get married as long as you have the proper documents you can change it without having to pay anything.

You need a signed marriage certificate to get most things changed over, or at least your drivers license and SS card corrected prior to changing things.

in order to do that you would need to pay to have it legally changed. Once you get married its like a "freebie" to change it.
