what do you think about all these chinese made food, toys and other product being recalled from foreign market? Fisher Price just started a recall for a lot of chinese made toys, because of hazardous use of lead based paint. but chinese officials claims that over 99% of chinese exports are quality products.

i think it's a great thing that foreign influence are pressuring china into better quality control on manufacturing. chinese food has always been a problem for chinese ourselves. there are way too many bootleg food products in china. ever since i was little, i knew about people pump pork meat full of tab water to make it weigh more. now they are feeding fish all kinds of drugs and chemical agents, like birth control pills and fermaldihide, to make them either look better or weigh more. then they sell these to ordinary chinese customers, many get sick and some die. but chinese has nowhere to complain, the central government is too busy with rapid developement in big cities and buying resouces in africa. those bootleggers give kickbacks to local officials, so local government is gonna crack down on them. central government can't reach far enough to do anything themselves. so i'm glad the foreigners are putting pressure. it has to change!

I like most of the Chinese products, especially clothes, you don't have to pay lots of money to buy a regular shirt, and the designs are so nice, while in U.S,the designs are not that pretty and you have to pay lots of money to get a regular t-shirt.

Chinese officials claim lots of things!
I wonder if the guy in charge of Fischer Price in China will be executed like the manager of the food and drug manufacturing plant was. After their products were recalled by Western countries.

The Chinese officials are probably correct, or close enough anyway, when they say 99% of their exports are quality. Keep in mind, 1% of all the stuff they export is still a whole lot of product. They had $974 BILLION in exports in 2006. If just 1% of that is crappy, dangerous products, that's $9.74 BILLION worth. I don't care what country we're talking about, you are going to find at least 1% of the companies taking short cuts and putting their customers at risk. What do you think the quality rating on U.S. exports might be? Don't get my wrong, I'm a proud American but I bet the number is less than 99%. Don't be so quick to blame an entire nation for the crappy business practices of a few companies that happen to splash the headlines over here.

It is not only China, but because lately allot of them have been from China they are making the news, plus look around allot of junk we have in America is made in China,
My option on this problem is America needs to inspect EVERYTHING that comes into our county not just a random few, same in our food chain Inspect ALL of it, Our Government needs to put the safety of our people first not just from terrorist but daily things also.

Ms. Meglena Kuneva, the EU Commissioner for Consumer Protection, said "99% is not enough, even1% involve human lives."
If you google-images with keywords "pollution river fish", you will notice how serious the situation of the environment in China is. Can you eat canned fish imported from China?
I worry about the future of China.

Poison in toothpaste, Antifreeze in cough syrup, antibiotics in fish, lead paint on toys; how long can we allow the Chinese to continue to poison our families? Americans must contact congress and tell them that we want better regulation of Chinese products. What good are cheap products if they have the potential of killing us?

Hey.... I'm fine with Chinese-made items. Their quality is usually pretty good and it's a lot less expensive than US-made... crap!
The only thing I DON'T like about a lot of our things being made in China is that on Christman morning when children open their presents they get from Santa Clause, it all says "Made in China" and not "Made in North Pole" so yeah... that kinda makes it obvious to the kids that their parents are Santa and they'll never trust them again..
But anyway! I love Chinese made things! ESPECIALLY my boyfriend. <3
