First of all I am not a young teacher but though I am 26, I look younger than my real age is. Anyways at school, I teach stages at ages (11-13) and they seem to be checking me so well especially boys! Knowing that I never put on but garments and dresses so much suiting my being respectable in the classroom. I am trying to be firm and strict at same time an older sister to them. It happened that I accidently heard one of the boys telling another student "She's pretty hot teacher." How could I maintain the discipline having their minds concentrating on the lesson itself rather than being drifted away?

Although I am a guy, I work in schools too, and this is just one of the occupational hazards. When dealing with teenagers, their hormones are going to kick into gear no matter what you do to try and stop it. What I have found is that you can actually use it to your advantage if you're aware that the students find you attractive. I'm not saying flaunt it, but I am saying that they will be more likely to obey the classroom rules and generally be cooperative with you if they think you are good-looking.

The important thing to do is to NEVER let it appear that you are trying to be attractive for them. Maintain your professional distance and be a teacher first, a responsible adult second, and a friend... never. They have enough friends, they don't need a 26-year-old friend.

For a while, I worked in an all-girl school and I was in charge of discipline. I tried to ignore the fact that some girls clearly thought I was "hot." (There's no accounting for taste.) I must say, though, that it did help me in my disciplinary dealings with them. They listened to me respectfully, they were eager to cooperate with school rules, and I rarely had to ask them to do anything twice.

As I said, it's an occupational hazard. If you are at all normal looking, there are going to be students of the opposite sex who are attracted to you. You just have to lead them down the right path and always keep in mind what your professional role is. Good luck! It's a great career.

When I first started, I was 22 teaching 13-14 year olds. That is a bit closer in age than even you are. You just must go in strictly. Don't take anything from them! I still don't! As for being an older sister, I think that may be the wrong direction to go. You are there to teach; you can still be friendly and strict without getting into a "friendly sister" position. I don't think that and strict really go together.

Well its kinda cute that they think you are hot. But you can be hot and have their respect. My friend she once told me never ever tell your students how old you are. Let it be a mystery especially if you are fairly young which you are. I mean it seems like you are doing things ok so far. Just keep doing what you are doing and don't be afraid to be firm with them. They need to know you are the hot teacher who doesn't take any BS! lol Just be a cool teacher but you don't hesitate to check them when you need to. Also you kinda have an upper hand cause if they like you they will probably listen to you more anyway. Just let them know that the "hot" teacher cares about them learning and I'm sure they'll focus for you :)

I can see that u are a good teacher. First of all, i think you show give them some warnings in class something like - they are here to study and not too think about a relationships; especially with a teacher. Tell them to show some respect to you as their teacher as well as respect to themself.(Try the soft way first...

If it doesn't works, resort to the hard ways.. send them for school counselling or try talking to their parents...

maybe that will help.. you also can get some advice from your colleage(they being a teacher as well may have met the same problem like you and may know how to slove it) or refer the matter to the teacher's deparment...

I guess it is also part of their adolescent stage wherein the boys tend to fall and infatuate with the opposite sex especially you are single, young and they always sees you.

Try making it a part of your teaching routine so that they won't find you boring but please keep a descent personality and maintain the teacher student relationship so as they don't go over the border.

It's natural; Boys will be boys.

I remember being in highschool and talking about hot teachers.. but it never really affected my learning in the classroom.

You might need to make sure its not affecting the way you're teaching them, though.

If not, you could try looking ugly?

This is normal behavior in boys of this age. If you are doing all the right things: proper dress and proper behavior, then ignore it. But beware of friendliness that might be construed by them with their wishful thinking as flirting, etc.

You could try wearing clothes for grandmas!! It always turns boys off!! But you have to add an essential detail: put your hair in a bun!!
