She said that when I turned 16 she would take me anywhere, because she really likes to travel. I've narrowed it down to a few places, but I'd like your opinions on which of my choices you think would be best, and if you have another idea as to where I may like to go, tell me!

I've decided that it's going to be one of the following:
Vietnam
New Zealand
India
Japan
Eastern Europe

Just be aware that I wouldn't really want to go to the other side of the world to go shopping, so I need answers based more on culture and amazing experiences. I'm in really good shape and so is my aunt, so I'd probabaly spend most of my time kayaking and mountain biking and such. But I'd still like to spend a few days in the major cities of the nation.

not any of the following because my aunt has already been there, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't love to see them some day:
England
Scotland
Italy
Thailand
Turkey
Argentina
Costa Rica

WOW...nice deal. I think India would be a amazing. It's very hard to understand their culture if you're not emersed in it. Their religion and way of life according to it just amazing. I think you'll find the same thing in Japan as long as you don't hang out near the cities. New Zealand is pretty much just a pretty place. Eastern europe is great. You'll be able to see hands on all the history that you've been taugh since 1st grade. Just depends on what exactly you're looking for. Eastern Europe is great for outdoors as well as New Zealand. The others are definitely more cultural emersion oriented. Have fun...I'm jealous. I wish I could have done that when I was 16

Scotland is nice, it has what you're looking for, there are a lot of cultural events in the cities, such as Edinburgh and Glasgow, good for young and older generations. There is also an abundance of things to keep you active such as kayaking and mountain biking. It isn't too hot and not too cold. It's also a very safe place to visit.

Eastern Europe would allow you to see many different cultures in a short period of time. Great mix of cities and natural amenities (hiking, biking, etc.).
Then of the rest of the destinations on the list, New Zealand would be an outstanding choice, in my opinion.

wow...tough one! If it were me, I'd like to see Greece. anywhere in the Mediterranean. From your list: Vietnam would be cool. India for the Taj Mahal, Japan...amazing cultural experience. I would love Ireland or Scotland. You could go to Germany and see the concentration camps. My former boss goes to Bulgaria once a year....she loves it! She says it's really cheap too. England is great for it's history...stonehenge was beautiful!

The world is yours....I would suggest making a pro/con list and start narrowing it down by places you want to see and things you want to do. That decision would be way too hard! I don't envy you. Good luck!
