He doesnt have any problems, and he is an inside dog, he plays outside for some time though. He is only 15 weeks old, and does giving him a bath this often get rid of all his natural oils...etc. Also is it bad to put human perfume on dogs, or do you have to put Dog perfume?? thanks x x x

What are you feeding him? Nutrition can actually play a part in the health of thier coat and their smell.

It sounds like you're bathing him too often, he shouldn't really be bathed more than once a month. You could try between bath wipes or spritzes. Earthbath has some great products.

Is he an outside dog? Because then you have a problem

Does he smell bad because he has an ear infection or bad breath? For those problems you will have to go to the vet. If he had a long thick coat? You might want to go to the groomers and get it shaved down a bit

After you bath him but some purfume sprays or colonge on him that will help him last through the week. Good luck! :)

Johnson's do a really get dog shampoo called "deodorant shampoo" which I use on my dog. It eliminates odours and he smells really fresh after it. As your dog is still young though, I'm not sure if this shampoo would be suitable as a puppy-specific one would probably be best.

Also, washing once a week would be destroying the natural oils in his coat, which might also contribute to the smell. Dogs do have a certain odour of them anyway, and I find all breeds are different. Maybe you haven't had a golden retrever before & you're just not acustomed to his unique smell.

Why don't you try using a different doggie shampoo. Some of them specifically address the smelly dog issue!!! I wouldn't use human products on dogs. A good doggy perfume is always best. Ask at your local petstore.

YOu don't want to wash your dog too often because yes it does strip them of their natural oils and can dry out their skin. you should try FUR HIM for in stores only at PetCo. Just spray it on and brush it into his coat. he will smell like a handsome gentleman.
