Once you have declared a vehicle SORN all you need to do is purchase a new tax disc and so long as your insured and the vehicle has a valid MOT it can go back on the road. You can tax your vehicle on-line.

No other costs unless MoT is also due which you will need before being able to retax it, you are allowed to drive it to the MoT testing station without valid tax.
You must declare it SORN to the DVLA as soon as you intend to put it off the road otherwise you will get fined for not taxing it.

Nope. Just buy a disc and that automatically informs the DVLA that the car is back on the road.

You just pay the normal rate for either 6 months or 1 year. If you buy it in the middle of the month, eg. 15th then you will have to pay from the beginning of the month so will lose 2 weeks so best to wait until the first of the month

No charge, when you retax it, that automatically cancels SORN. By the by, SORN only lasts 12 months then you have to renew it, if that matters.
