Even now saints are there.
You can follow them.
Question is how to find a real guru?
Well If you have burning desire to know the truth, your inner self will find a real guru who will guide you to know how to reach inner self and follow it.
He will help you to come out of problems that one aspirant faces during the journey towards truth.

Believe it or not I have not gone to the priests in the Catholic church...there are only a few that I totally respect but I have to say others of the cross from My Jesuit University in the City I love the priest there they are committed to the students and the Alumni alike and they care about world events I find the local priests not that caring and circular in their sermons when they should be internationally :)))) I also ask older wiser people there life experiences and they are great for spiritual advice..........like these two men that graduated from the University and have this prayer group that meets at the school at the end of each month for the students and alumni alike I have asked them for advice in the past and I think that is a beautiful thing that they give back they are truly beautiful Christen people Godbless them always :)))) I also talk to my friend and close family who are religious and Godbless them to they are trying to find there way too but their love of God never falters :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I agree with you the Saints who were there earlier are no more there to guide us. All present day so called Saints, Sadhus, Babas, Yogis are mostly fakes and freaks. So we have to carefully make a search for a suitable person, though it is doubtful to get.

So the best alternative is to believe in God an we try to understand Bhagawat Gita Ourselves. This is the only way I see. --

Just start at the very beginning. A very good place to start.

Prayer and Scripture are the very beginning. Get comfortable with talking to God in your prayers and hearing Him in your reading and in the silence of your heart.

Then ask Him for a spiritual mentor. Don't quit because you don't get a name, e-mail address and cellphone number within the first few minutes. God does not work like a fast-food franchise!

Good luck and remember, He promised that if you'd ask, He would answer, if you sought, you'd find and if you knocked, He'd open the door.

There's no-one I'd rather have guide me in my physical form.

I love this. It captures the very essence of the internet, don't you think?

First I attempt prayer and meditation. If the answers do not come to me or I feel the need to discuss something with another human, I can no longer go to my Gramma, so I take it to an elderly friend of mine, who happens to be a retired Catholic Priest.
Peace be with you.

Yourself. Every one has a good guide sitting in them, its just the reluctance and resistance of ourselves that restricts us to do that. Self deciplene is the key word.

I let the Holy Spirit guide me. An outsider isn't needed.

Me.

The very notion of asking someone else to take reign of my thoughts and beliefs is ludicrous at best...
