I am a female in my mid-fifties, but I noticed the last month or so that I just walking around in a fog most of the time. I know I need something at the store. I get in the car and drive there, then as soon as I get out of the car, I forget what I needed. The last time I came home from shopping, I pulled in the driveway, but left the car out to unload it, intending to put the car away when I was finished stashing the groceries. The next morning, there was my car still in the driveway, then I realized I forgot to put it in the garage. I forgot had a veterinarian's appointment last week. Added to this is the fact that no matter how much I sleep, I still feel extreme fatigue during the day. I also noticed other physical factors like how clumsy I am lately. Like when I reach to grab something, I knock it over instead. I also walk into the edge of doorways. And my typing has become atrocious. I had to re-type this message several times because I reverse letter orders.

My doctor can't find any reason for this like anemia or potassium deficiency. I know this isn't a forum for medical diagnoses, but if anyone knows someone with a similar condition what did they find out about it?

I did some snooping around and I read your entry a few months ago about not grieving for your mother. Sorry if this sounds blunt or harsh but barring any medical reasons why you could be feeling so unemotional and cold right now, I'm going to take a guess and say you need to get out of the house more. Something is taking over your life and unless you get a grip on it, it'll probably destroy you. Try this. Try thinking only 'inside the box' for a few days. By this I mean only concentrate on the things that directly affect your life...like your family or your community. Don't think or obsess about anything else. Practice this technique for a few months and I guarantee whatever is taking over your life will be wiped out in time. You will start to think clearer and your emotions will start coming back to you.
Reading or writing is great, but it's no substitute for one on one interactions with real people. Not only are you cheating yourself but you are cheating other people who would love to spend time with you. Try it Sweetie! Good luck

It could be a number of things, most of which everyone has mentioned. How is your stress level - have you had a major situation lately? I find I am mentally exhausted after someone in my family has some major drama - as they all have on a regular basis.

I have to write down every task I need to do sometimes or I won't even think about it - I write things down in my schedule book or I will forget. I put my keys in the same place or I will forget where they are.

I take wellbutrin because I will sleep and be fatigued all the time. You might have some depression problems...

Check your body - lie in a quiet space - if there are ANY unexplained pains or hunches about something wrong - tell your doctor. I have had chronic appendicitis and a gallbladder problem for years - no one ever diagnosed it because it wasn't too bad - just made me feel tired.

I have also been doing a lot of body cleansing - like colonics, supplements, body detox for heavy metals, etc. That stuff we accumulate over years can affect our health.

Good luck - let us know what you find out...

The people that answered here may be correct, but to be sure, seek professional medical consultation. I don't want to alarm you, but I had an uncle in his early 60's that had some of these symptoms along with vision problems. Come to find out, he had a brain tumor. Get thee to a physician!

If you are in your mid-50's, you've probably gone through menopause. I'v e heard that his effects you more than you think especially if you don't take hormone replacement. If you aren't getting answers from your regular doctor, you can try another or talk to a psychological councilor.

Have you went through (or are you going through) menopause? Maybe your estrogen levels are a little off key. Or, what about your equalibrium (sp?)?

Or, it could be something more serious. I'd make a Doctor's appt. ASAP - just to be on the safe side.

Have you though about giving your family doctor a call?

Explain what has been happening. He may be able to tell you what is wrong or run some tests.

What do you have to loose.
