Would it make a difference if you saw them magically make a coin appear behind your ear?
Would it make a difference if they vanished in a puff of smoke and appeared behind you?
Would it make a difference if they levitated above the ground?

If a person told you they were a god and performed impossible acts right in front of you, would you believe them?

In the last part of my question I mention impossible acts. Any act that appears impossible can be copied somehow with cheap tricks. So, to all those people who say 'show me proof', I say 'there is no proof you can be shown - you wouldn't believe what you see'.

(I'm leading to something here, so bear with me)

David Blaine (or any other trickster) is not a god.

That which is inexplicable to the individual is impressive. If I keep a level head, then no I will not believe it.

If a person walked on water, fed 5,000 people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish and there was more left over at the end than when he had started, if he could come to a grave site where someone had been buried 4 days earlier and call their name and they rose from the dead and came out of their tomb, and if he was publicly executed and after he was dead someone stabbed him in the side with a spear and I saw a gush of blood and water pour out of his dead body, and if 3 days later he rose from the dead and was able to appear out of no where in a locked room and disappear just as suddenly and then I saw him get carried up into the sky in a cloud, then I would give serious consideration to his claim that He was the Son of God.

No, because the Bible warns that there will be false Christs who will perform many signs and wonders and deceive almost everybody.

The anti-christ who heads up the end times one world government and it's fake one world religion will be able to perform the most amazing miracles that most people will think he is God.

The signs that signify the coming of the real Messiah are detailed in the Bible and we have been told to watch and wait and not be deceived by impostors no matter how impressive their magic tricks are.

Nope I have seen people levitate make stuff as large as the statue of liberty disappear and what not. They would have to do a lot of work to convince me.

I might believe that they could do those impossible things, but it does nothing to support the central claim of Christianity -- namely, that faith in the sacrifice of Jesus guarantees eternal life in heaven.

For that, he'd need to produce someone I knew to be dead, and let me interview him to find out if he's currently enjoying eternal life in heaven because of his beliefs (or now burning in hell because he failed to believe).

A god would not do those sort of things to impress or prove godliness. These trifles are for magicians and illusionists.

No.

Then again, I wouldn't believe me if they told me they were a person either.

I'm not in the habit of just believing random people. I don't give them any more than a moment's consideration as an indeterminate "thing".... and that is it.

No, but I'd consider myself well entertained and I'd put a couple of bucks in the hat.
