Fear is a spirit.
2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
But we have authority over fear.
2Co 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
We can control our thoughts.

I guess, it could be two things:-

1. Feelings, which generate spirits of fear.
2. Unknown spirits, which induce feelings of fear.

Fear is an emotion felt when you do not understand what is coming to you, or what you are experiencing, now or in the future. Understanding is the key. In my opinion it is not a spirit.

Fear is a feeling, very difficult to define. For example, you know you are perfectly safe when you cross a suspension bridge, but, because you can see the water beneath you the fear takes over and can leave you rooted to the spot. I also know I would be perfectly safe on a roller coaster but totally illogical fear prevents me from going on one.

fear can in some situations, be CAUSED by a spirit i suppose, but fear itself is just a feeling; and normally fear isn't caused by spirits. like, stage fright. stage fright is caused by our own brains. or like, if you're really nervous after watching a horror movie, it's not a spirit, it's your own fault for watching a horror movie

I personally view fear as a 'feeling' and as such a facet of emotional response.

I suppose a spiritual component could be there as well.

It's quite a novel question to ponder. Thank you.
