Depends on the disease. There are literally dozens of problems which will manifest in the eye in some way. Interesting one from watching House the other night - Wilson's disease can be diagnosed by a coppery ring appearing around the iris.

This is called iridology, the viewing of the eyes by a professional to see any disorders or illness of the body. It's very easy for these people to see differences and trouble spots that are related to other areas of the body through the eyes.
Our eyes show color variances, fogginess and even vein discrepencies in the whites (plus discoloration) which helps the iridologist figure out which organ is malfunctioning.

Yes certain disease can be detected by observing the inside of the eyes.B.P, Diabetes, Heart disease are a few disease which leave a tell tale clue in the eyes, (like floating exudes in the aqueous chamber of eyes).But this is not true for all other diseases.
