As far as I understand Sanjay Dutt knowingly bought arms from the people who organised a series of bombings that killed more than 200 people.
I think that for a country like India were many times harsh penalties are meted out and were poor people are being forgotten in jail he got off very lightly and got a lenient sentence.

I read that he has been exempted from a terrorism accusation, while somebody else, who moved the weapons was judged as a terrorist. I think that is a double standard as we have seen more often in India.

Have a nice day.

........a lay-man would never be able to comment on the technical intricacies compelling the judge to decide on the terms finally when passing judgement&sentence; in this case, the way the judge spoke separately to Dutt after the court session, seems indicative of the dilemma and emotion bind that the judge was in as a human being! It is possible that the jail term already served awaiting the final outcome of trial, may be counted, or, at any rate, accounted in the total jail term --- whatever happens in the appeal case! They say justice is blind, sometimes! blind to emotions, is harsh, sometimes!

Yes, I feel so, because 6 years is too much. He has already served 1 1/2 years in prison about 13 years back for the same offence. I had expected him to be imprisoned for about 2 years or so.

Yes indeed. He was gone in jail for 1and a half years in1994-95 in this case, so should have been given a little imprisonment.
