Unless you can think of some injury you sustained, it may be a case of heel spurs. An x-ray will help. Heel spurs must be treated surgically.

Sounds like heel spurs. You will need to go to podiatry for x-rays and an exact diagnosis. It is relatively simple to treat. I had them, and yes they are painful. The doctor gave me 2 steroid injection in the heel and I haven't had a reoccurance now for 3 years. The injection hurts but they numb it up for you
