Do you sleep it out? Do you feel the emotions and try to make sense of the probelm hoping to 'understand' what's going on ? Do you blame it on the stars? Do you go shopping, but what if you can't afford to do so at this particular time? Only those who had been through this every so often and got over it, please reply . . . !

If its mild, then you get out of bed get some regular cardiovascular exercise. Get out in the sunlight and try to eat a healty diet lots of fruits and vegetables. Take a daily muti vitamin as well. Seek cognitive therapy. By taking an active interest and doing these things then you should be able to crawl out of that funk.

Unfortunately I have severe depression and am medicated now, but I did try all these things first, they helped immensly.

Try to keep busy and think of positive things. Avoid "Shopping Therapy", as many women know, "Shopping Therapy is only as good as the few hours it takes but will make you more depressed when you realise what you have spent and / or how much debt you have taken on. Don't worry about your finances, just try to think about the night out that is planned, at the weekend. Think about visiting a close friend etc. The more positive your thoughts, the sooner you will start feeling better. If you can, it's not easy, you could try to make sense of your feelings. You can actually learn to understand what triggers the feelings and what those feelings mean. However, if you want to learn this, I would suggest that you have a few sessions with an "Analytical Psychologist". He / she will get you started on self therapy. Finally, don't blame your feelings on the stars etc. seeking blame elsewhere only clouds your real problem. In winter time, you can blame the weather as that causes a mild depression for the majority of people but you need to learn how to distinguish between clinical depression and natural depression brought on by weather. Hope this helps!

It actually depends on what kind of depression. If it's a mental depression as in just an extended mood that goes away then you can do wha you love do to best and if it's a chemical imbalance you need to go to a doctor to get on an antidepressant

See your doctor to determine which one it qualifies as.

first of all my heart goes out to anyone who suffers from any mental illness.Unfortunely i happen to be one of them.I know alot about depression through theropy, classses, and etc., and not to mention the expirence of the countless bouts of slipping away into a depressive downward spiral. There is no simple solution to gain the ability to "snap" out of it.sleeping, shopping, dwelling are all temporary treatments to cope with this very painful disease. If there is anyone to blame it would have to be the good lord above not giving your body the chemistry to overcome the complete ugliness as a "normal" person would be able to. depression is the worst ive ever known.I get down and dont have the ability to recover on my own.It takes intervention, hospitals, theropy, medication, doctors, support groups, and the sheer will to want to live and all this does not happen overnight. The biggest thing about it all is learning the ability to ask for help! When you get down, you dont feel worthy of help or anything else for that matter, leaving them isolated to only them.Very bad situation.there is no quick cure for depression, the only way to overcome depression is the element of time. Thats it!Ask for help, get help and recover.

What you totally accept, you transcend.
Peace would be there even if you're still feeling depressed.... if you just let it be.
