key hole gallbladder removal (or laparascopic colesystectomy) is the most common type of key hole surgery performed around the world. the amount of pain dependes on the skillof the surgeon and the trauma caused. during this surgery, there are several small holes made in the abdoman. the abdoman is then filled with gas. this is carbon dioxide. this keeps the abdominal wall away from the internal organs giving the sureon room and a greater ability to see the gall bladder. carbon dioxide is used because it is easily absorbed by the body following surgery. however, this gas becomes absorbed and is often trapped between joints. from my experience this is often more painful for the patient than the pain of the surgery. but this tends to wear off within a few hours. i would imagine that you will be relatively pain free within 24 hours, depending on the pain relief prescribed by your specialist. it really is a very common surgery, and if your specialist has a six month wating list, it means he's doing many of these kinds of operations. good things come to those who wait.

6 months is not that bad, it used to be a lot longer. Remember patience is a virtue.

Just to put a slight spanner in the works. Although your specialist will try to remove your gall bladder by key hole surgery, he will not guarantee that this will happen while you are having a general anaesthetic. There is a small risk that it will be an open procedure.

I think that is too long to wait to have surgery. I would recommend getting another opinion and preferably from someone that does not share the same office of the doctor that you currently see.

gallbladder surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her Hernia and colostomy surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for Minimal Invasive and Laparoscopy surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India. They arrange Hernia, Appendectomy, Thyroid and other laparoscopy surgery for foreigners in India.
I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the Hernia, Colostomy and other minimal invasive surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
