Preconceived notions about the nature of God, that's all. We try to assign human characteristics to what we think of as God, and think that he should react the way that we would under the same situation.
Yes, we were supposed to have been created in God's image, but we marred that image back with Adam and Eve's first act of disobedience. Along with the ability to discern good from evil came the ability to assign blame. And seeing as God is supposed to be the Lord and Creator of all, he makes a very easy target.

It is disapointing to see a faithful one has so little fate in his or her fellow human being. It is doubly disapointing to learn that a faithful one believe in the God for nothing but fear. This is not an argument, I am simply answering the person who asked this question. I am not answering with love, but I am answering for love to my kind.
Understand this people tend to blame others for unfortunatness and their own mistakes, others include God. You dont judge human nature, the God does.
Learn that we are not created to be servant, living things are born wth selfishness as blessing.
Also understand that we are not here and live because of our possible comfort zone, just like we are never created to be. Difficult things and challenging things happen for reasons we do not know, be thankful even if it doesnt go alone with your comfort zone. What are the finest works in the world? Should individuals do cetain things when younger and older? WHAT IS TRULY GOOD FOR INDIVIDUALS? After are you dont know what is good for you.
Most importantly the moment Satan rule YOUR world, is when you accepted such non-sense to be true and fact. Think positive and be faithful to your kind, to our kind.

Even those who serve God are not protected from circumstances.
(Ecclesiastes 9:11) I returned to see under the sun that the swift do not have the race, nor the mighty ones the battle, nor do the wise also have the food, nor do the understanding ones also have the riches, nor do even those having knowledge have the favor; because time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all.
We can go a long way in protecting yourself by not being involved in dangerous pursuits e.g. skydiving, base jumping,
vertical cliff scaling with no safety ropes , frequenting nightclubs in dangerous areas, even joining the armed services, etc,
But God will not protect those who just happen to be travelling by plane, and it crashes. The above scripture covers this circumstance.
(John 17:15) “I request you, not to take them out of the world, but to watch over them because of the wicked one.

I must admit to being a little confused by your question and statements.
If we are treated the same whether we serve God or not, what's the motivation for serving?
If Satan is the God of this world, why not serve Him while in this world? By your logic, Satan is the superior power in this world, so who else would we turn to? At the moment, I'm not particularly concerned about the world I'm "of", I'm more concerned about the world I'm IN.

God does protect those who don't serve! There are those who didn't believe and were in the worst scenario imaginable and it was God, unmistakeably, who bailed them out! God has mercy and grace on believers and non-believers and it is rendered out to individuals in a way that is beyond our knowledge or understanding.
Anyone answering have a testimony to this?

Once we have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of our lives God protects us because we are His children. God's grace (mercy) came to us through Jesus Christ and the fullness of Him (of His blessings) we have all received grace upon grace (John 1:16,17). When we are guided and led by Him as our Shepherd we can save ourselves the trouble of walking into the valley of the shadow of death (Psalm 23). We serve God not to earn our protection which we have received by grace but to build treasures in heaven and earn our eternal rewards. The world may hate us but we have overcome the world when we believe that Jesus is the Son of God (1 John 5:4,5).

Psa 100:5 For the LORD [is] good; his mercy [is] everlasting; and his truth [endureth] to all generations.
Since His mercy is everlasting, I don't think it would hurt
to extend it a little to those who are fools.
Psa 14:1 [[To the chief Musician, [A Psalm] of David.]] The fool hath said in his heart, [There is] no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, [there is] none that doeth good.
