Jesus is said to be an itinerant preacher, that is to say that he went from town to town and village to village, spreading his message and gathering followers. There is a great tradition of this in the Middle East. These preachers normally try to avoid writing anything as doing so solidifies their message. There is also the fact that there was a great story-telling tradition going on at that time. with listeners passing on the stories they had heard to other places that they visited. This way one story gets passed very quickly and surprisingly accurately from place to place.
As tothe accusations that he was illiterate, this is unfounded. Although the son of a lowly carpenter, he was also said to be the Son of God, therefore supposedly exceptionallly gifted in all ways. Also, you will find in the Gospels that, at the age of 12, his parents lost him briefly and he was eventually found in the local sunagogue reading from the scrolls and hold a discourse on their contents. He could not have done this if he was illiterate.

Well, it looks to me like there was no reason. People write things all the time on the road. So, who knows why he didn't personally write a book. I think he should have. Maybe he did, and the Catholic church covered it up because it gave the truth to everything, they like to cover it up a lot.

Though Jesus did not write all his preaching were correctly recorded by his disciple Banbaras, which were later destroyed with an intention to malign original teachings and name of Banbaras was removed from the list of Disciples of Jesus.
