I'm currently working on a small project, and I need to make a case for some things by vacuum-forming. The problem is, I don't have a v-f table. Does anyone know a cheap way to make one (like out of wood or something) and how to actually construct one?

You need vacuum bagging material (tough plastic wrapping), and double-sided airtight foam tape. Place the material that needs to be formed over its mold, then cover the entire thing in vacuum bagging, sealing all the edges with the double-sided foam tape. Leave one hole in which to insert the vacuum pump.

Vacuum forming tables can be made with a shop-vac and a box of MDF with a whole ton of holes drilled in the top of it. Rig the vacuum up to the inside of the box, make sure it's sealed except for the top of the table. Put a ring of rubber gasketing around the edge of the table, and attach some pipe clamps or other fast acting deal. Build a frame for the thermoplastic sheet that will quickly clamp to the table and seal over the gasket when you pull it out of the oven.
