Life today is all non intentional, with a series of events, There is no real purpose to life. Why are people always looking for a purpose.
there is no real or original purpose to life because if there were you would not be free, it means you have a role a job to full fill. No purpose in life means you are free to do whatever you want. You can do anything you want in life, ( unless of course you have certain physical limitations)
If you had a purpose in life it means you are made specifcally for a task. But we have no task other than what we make it. This pnly shows that there is no purpose in life, there's only options, choices, and oppertunities. Depending on the way we perceive things limits us as a whole of what we can do. But if we actually start to see things for the way they are maybe people will understand this better. How come people think having no purpose in life is bad or horrible, but never think about it as freedom? I mean if i had a purpose that means i get limited

freedom. Also it means you limited to what you can do with your life. And who ever says your purpose in life is to be free is dumb because that makes no sense. if your purpose is to be free. this still means you are without a task to perform. Therefore there is no purpose.
Its all about what you choose to do with this freedom.

midge, God is a mythology. Every religion is a mythology. None have no real and good proof of any religion being ultimately realisticly true.
Also when you try to claim a supernaturual being is all powerful and created all is kinda awkward. If he created all, and also eternal at that, he must know all. So he should know he created evil, all powerful, supreme, cannot defeat manage his own creations and also obviously tried to create a sinfree society with a imperfect world? does not make good sense to me. Every reasonable person knows that a sinfree society would require a perfect world. And if god is all knowing, how come he does not know ho wto manage his own creations? he should, he created it, should knows what makes it tick? he loves everyone so much he willing to lay back and let "evil" or "satan" spread chaos everywhere? or was some of it jesus. Its not really about good vs evil in religion either. Because in every religion good seems to self contridict itself. You know

like god breaking some4 of his own commandments by commiting mass murder. Creating evil. you know. Being careless about situations. which means he wasnt caring also.
Its really about Chaos vs order.
Religions are just stories. But if God himself actually potrayed his presence to the public as a physical entity. himself then maybe i would beleive it. I dont have to beleive there are japanese people in asia but i can see them and witness them because they are real anyway. Wether you want to beleive it or not. You can't do the same with god, it seems to be only if you beleive in him.

religions are a systematic way of setting down a set of values to people
Through stories
But the stories are not true.
And it seems to be that religious people to tend to break there own commandments and religious laws alot.

If you like the idea of a God that's good for you , whatever floats your boat, but never ever try to mix religion with reality though and present it as truth to the world. Because no religion has ever been rationally proven true. However my favorite mythology i like to listen to is the norse mythology. but its still very similar to he greek mythology which is dangerously close to the mythology of God

doing what you want and having no purpose is two different things, because if you had a purpose you cant do anything you want, you have a role to fullfill.

People who fear deaf without reward or afterlife are people who are scared of there fate. The only gaureenteed 100 %
will always be true predetermined thing to everything that lives is deaf.
When you learn to deal with this as a fact and stop fearing it. Maybe life won't be so depressing. As long as you accomplish what you set out in life, life to you should be worth it.

your always warshiping something and what you beleive of its accomplishments right? but you think its wrong if people praise themselves for there accomplishments because its self deception.. wow. its not self deception. self deception is when you lie to your self. When you have no purpose you can create purpose. Machines have a purpose dont they? cpu have a purpose we create things that have a purpose so what are you talking about?. Although "WE"have no purpose we create purpose because we create things that are meant to do stuff. militaries are created by people and are made of people with a purpose of being prepared for warfare so what are you talking about? cpu, machines, Ai, who says we dont create purpose, different things we make have different purpose.

So you don't have a purpose... you just do what you want? I thought that is what a purpose IS! Do you not get a sense of fulfillment in doing what you desire? If not, you should rethink your purpose and start desiring something else to go after.
That is what purpose is all about ... fulfillment by living what you desire to do. You are right when you say there is a choice in what we make our tasks to be, but a fulfilling purpose is not a task... when you really find what you truly desire, you will be fulfilled and doing what you want... discover the purpose and reason for which you were created, which means: find who you are, know what you truly desire and do it! This will give you the greatest joy! It is not work, or a task because you are being who you are and doing what you desire!
Shalom and blessings....

Purpose presupposes a Creator. Your very question forces the subject toward God. Here is a quote from a brilliant atheist on the subject:
“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell (20th century philosopher, mathematician and Nobel Laureate)
Without God, we cannot create purpose but what we can create are feelings, generally feelings of self worth.
When we “create” purpose for ourselves, we are really just imagining behaviors that earn us praise consistent with our capacity for deceiving ourselves into believing that the praise is an honest indicator of self worth. Self-deception is an essential element in our acceptance of self praise and the praise of others as evidence of meaning and worth. That is basic psychology.
Without God, all of our most noble ideals such as compassion and love and justice and mercy are just our egos looking for good feelings about ourselves. So you are not free, you are a slave to your feelings. It cannot be otherwise.
Many of us think that a life spent seeking good feelings is not worthy of our lives so we seek God even while not knowing whether He exists or not.
You can email me if you like but I think I will be able to demolish your idea about being free.
ADDITIONAL COMMENT ON YOUR COMMENT:
"Machines have a purpose dont they? cpu have a purpose we create things that have a purpose so what are you talking about?." Yes, machines have a purpose because they were created with a purpose in mind. Ask someone what is the purpose of some rock on the moon. I think you'll get a blank stare. Doesn't make any sense to ask the purpose of a naturally occurring object does it? If we are not created, then we are just naturally occurring objects like a moon rock.

I think there is a great deal of purpose in life. We have our spouses, our children, our parents, our other family members. We have work and play. We have education and self-betterment. We have making the world a better place for the people who come after us.
We also, and it's not a low ideal, the purpose of being happy.
That's lots of purpose to me.

There is a purpose..
Go forth and make a lot of babies, so life can go on. The only true purpose in life.
We do other things to keep from being bored, but that's it.
Satisfied....................
Now can you go die in peace?
How about lying on a beach and going out righteously, by being stabbed in the heart by a sting ray.
Some people like death by policeman.
Where is Doctor Death?

I think different people have their different definition of 'purpose in life'.
To you no purpose in life mean free and could do whatever you wish, for others this may seem pessimistic due to no specific purpose or sense of accomplishment.
So is not that people don't accept that's no purpose in life, is just that all of us have different opinion in this issue.

Your grammar isn't so sharp, but your point is like a razor. Feeble-minded people create and follow religion to answer questions that they do not have nor want the answers for. I cannot see how, in this modern age, we haven't yet done away with religion. It no longer serves a purpose, but serves as an excuse (not a reason, mind you) for crimes against humanity.

That without God there IS no purpose to life. I feel so incredibly sorry for you. God gave His very best 4U - His ONE AND ONLY BEGOTTEN SON - all to get yuor attention and bring U to His side. And you sit back casually and say that there is no purpose to life! Its there its just that UR blinded by this world. KNOW GOD LOVE GOD AND SERVE GOD. that is your only purpose here!
