A poker face just in case you were wondering, is the almost emotionless expression that you ideally need to keep on your face when you are playing poker. Otherwise, like I mentioned, other players will be able to use your emotions and your thoughts against you as you will be displaying them on your face for all the world to see.

As you can plainly see from most of the answers here, a poker face is commonly MISUNDERSTOOD to be a straight emotionless, Steve Seagal-looking face. In his case, it would be called bad acting, but when you see that in an archetypical poker game, it's assumed to be a "poker face." While that's not a "wrong" answer, it's not right either. It really depends on the person. If you are an emotionless, sub-machine gun toting, Aikido champion with terrible screen prescence by nature and when you play poker you stay that way, then yes, that's a poker face. But watch a few poker games. You'll see professional players babbling, laughing, talking about sports and stocks, doing all kinds of stuff. A poker face is simply this: Whether you have good cards or bad cards, the best hand or the worst hand, you never SHOW it on your face. If you're a giddy, talkative person and suddenly you turn silent and emotionless, you DO NOT have a poker face. If you're talkative and giddy with two Aces, and you're talkative and giddy with 7 and 2, then you have a poker face.

A poker face is widely thought of as a blank, expressionless face. When you are playing poker the other players may look at you for subtle changes in expression, different breathing patterns, sudden blink at the turn of a card or when being challenged etc. If you can train yourself to have a poker face then it is more difficult for opponents to detect changes in expression so it is harder for them to tell if you have a good hand, have just improved your hand, are feeling the pressure while bluffing etc.
In real life, away from a poker game, a poker face is considered to be a blank, expresionless face similar to that used by an experienced poker player.
Some good poker players don't feel the need to always have poker faces. They are just very careful to not change whatever expression they have at important moments.

I think a Poker Face is where when you are playing Poker and you are winning or losing, you keep a straight face. Kind of like bluffing I think. Someone else will give you a better answer, but I like to try and help out. :)

Typically a Poker face is associated with bluffing or a good hand, and not tipping your opponent off either way.
When given the opportunity I will attempt to use emotions to try to get an opponent to do what I want him to do. A lot of people out there think strong means weak, and weak means strong. So if you act strong when you have a good hand and weak with a bad one, once in a while they will not know what to make of you.

poker gamers could desire to have a poker face or positioned on solar glasses on the table so different gamers do no longer examine their faces. they are going to be responsive to which you have a good hand so they're going to the two fold or bluff. i admire Texas carry 'em Poker.

It's when you don't show any emotion at the table. The situation doesn't matter, a bad beat, you are in a hand with a trash talker, you put a raise with 89 but act like you have AA"S, basically nothing bother you (at least you don't show it, you hide your emotion)
