i have been trying to teach myself for alomst a year..i cant figure it out!

i have been playing guitar for 6 years, and not to toot my own horn, im pretty good. but i can not figure out the slide...being a blues guitarist..im very disapointed in myself.

any hints...links to videos...videos to BUY.

i dont want a teacher, i want to be able to say i taught myself, like i did until here.

buy a slide and tune to an open chord either g major or e major . if you are a blues man you know one four five as your basic chords open fifth fret seventh fret and twelfth octave . you'll get it . listen to Bonnie Wraite if I spelled that correct .

Its time to get yourself a real human being as a teacher. They can show you how to advance a lot faster, and they can teach how to avoid bad habits. Videos are great, but there is no substitute for instant feedback on what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong. I used to be a guitar teacher - get a teacher - its time.

The trick is to run your glass or metal slide mostly right 'over the frets', and not 'between the frets' like you would without the slide. Once you get it right, you will think that is what you really want to do, and will not want to go back to just picking.
