First of all I am a Christian and by all means I have never nor would I ever tell to stuff their Emotions. God gave us feelings and to me that would be pretty stupid to be told not use what we were given. Do not listen to quakes like that as they have no clue as to what God wants us to do about our feelings. I cannot stand people who are so sickenly pious and use Religion to try and to me scare the crap out of someone so will join their little cult. I have had Jehovah Witneses come to my front door and when I tell them I have no interest in what they have to say as I am Catholic and Native American and I practice both Faiths and as soon as they hear that, I am told I am going to Hell and I better repent and come to one of their church services to be saved.
No, thank-you and I shut my door but before I do that I have to have the last word of course and I look them straight in the eyes and ask them who are they to judge me? "judge not lest thee be Judged". We were given feeling for a purpose and there are so many ways in which yourself or I or anybody else use our feelings. We use our feelings to sometimes work or sort out something we may have or done. If we were to not express our feelings then I'd love hear an asnwer to try and justify why God gave us tears? No, you are to use your feelings and there are so many purposes for that use. I have had friends tell me that after a relative dies they must not cry but be strong. My own sister said that last year and is still saying it. I told her it it okay to cry and to feel the loss and pain and to grieve. She lost her husband last year to a drunk driver who could not wait a few seconds more and plowed right into them, my brother and law held on for 7 months and he lost the battle and less than 4 months later in November, her middle child, her son went into the Hospital for a simple procedure and someone goofed up who works there and Killed him. I cry everyday for my nephew and Godson and I have on a few occasions screamed and yelled at God. I was angry and I wanted someone to be blamed for losses in my life. During those times I am showing alot of feelings and then settle down and think things over again. I am sorry that someone said the we are to ignore our feelings and I would not call that a true Christian way of life.
Also, you are right, He gave us emotions to use and to make fair judgements. I just blow off that type of talk and walk away since I do not wish to argue what I believe to be true with that sort of person. YES, YES, show your emotions. They were given to us for a purpose and that is to use them. I don't mean if you are feeling really mad at someone, don't go out and shoot the person. I just mean it is okay to be very angry and He gave us choices for ways of dealing with our feelings. So, go ahead and feel whatever it is your feeling as it can give one an ulcer. Just be yourself and don't let anyone tell you if you are right or wrong. We are not here to judge someone else.

Cherish them sometimes, suppress them sometimes - don't let them weigh in too heavily on big decisions. Strong emotions tend to prohibit rational thinking.
I've never heard anyone interpret the bible as saying to ignore our feelings - I must have missed that part. I think it would be ironic for religious types to encourage this since it often fear that makes people believe in god anyway.

I think our emotions can be used effectively in enjoying life. You need to make decisions in your life by thinking things out logically
We shouldn't let our emotions run amuk without any control
Learn to understand your limitations and control your self within the borders of those limitations

I don't agree they were given to us to allow us to make judgements, after all "Judge not lest ye be judged".
I believe we have emotions so that we can experience physical life better and more thoroughly.

I think you were born with a brain, a heart, and a soul, and it's a sin to bury or turn off any of them. Think for yourself, feel for yourself, listen to all but make your own decisions. Then you shall be free!

He uses our emotions but bring all parts of your life into submission to Christ. Bring every thought captive.
If your emotions rule over you instead of Jesus then you can get into real trouble.

God created us with emotions so that we could feel other people's pain as well as our own. However, we shouldn't allow our emotions to control us. Feelings arise from thoughts, and thoughts can be changed.

I mean no offense by this question. Why do you feel it necessary to be so submissive to your God that you must have permission not to express how you feel about something?

The problem with emotions is that they change like the weather and they often conflict with each other.
