Animism, the belief that everything has a spirit.

Sun worship.

Most religions still are a form of sun worship. Even Christianity shows Jesus with a halo, has him walking on water (as the sun does when it sets over a lake or sea)

It actually makes more sense to worship the sun than anything else; without ol Sol our world would not support life, and more sun is always better except in the desert. Even as a stand-in for an unknown god, the sun is more powerful than any puny human.

I still cannot believe the chutzpah of anyone who would claim that a creator would adopt the form of a human, one of the most insignificant beings on one insignificant planet in the cosmos.

It was the space ship suicide religion a while back, a mansion full of dead bodies all dressed the same and poisoned by their leader because he promised God was coming in a big spce ship to take them all away.

What a waste of life.

And of course Atheist's could not have come first because they didn't have anything to hate before they discovered Monkey worship.
It's a shame to, all those other species lost because of evolution, the scientists wet dream about having his way with a monkey. Gee isn't that how aids was supposed to get started.
Oh well

God never spoke to anyone. The first religions were polytheistic, with separate gods for various natural features. The Greek and Roman gods were examples of this.

When the mind conceived spirits, that was the beginning of animism. Atheism could only exist when spirits could be conceived and recognized as not necessary to explain nature.

There were no religions. Every man born into the world was born with the Word of God, they had the commandments written in their hearts and minds.

Therefore the first religion as you have called it would be spiritual. Spirits are fed by bread (Word of God) from heaven, Moses claimed that he received bread from heaven, as manna but Jesus told us that the did eat manna in the wilderness and they are all dead,

Jesus said Moses gave you not that bread (Word of God) from heaven, but my Father giveth you the true bread (Word of God) from heaven.

Those who worship the Father must worship Him in SPIRIT and in TRUTH.

atheism isn't a religion, but good point. early religion was like people's science. it was how they explained how things in their world came about or worked or whatever. we can only make educated guesses about the early peoples

Your guess is as good as mine. Here, wait, a time machine beside my bed. Let me hop into it for a tic....I'll go see. If you don't hear back from me instantaneously, I'll have perished near some halcyon landscape.
