The idea of an immortal soul apart from the body is a lie started by Satan himself! Read Genesis again, people!
Genesis 2:17 (God talking) "But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it YOU WILL POSITIVELY DIE."
Genesis 3:4 (Satan talking) "At this the serpent said to the woman: “YOU POSITIVELY WILL NOT DIE."
Some people have believed in an immortal soul ever since! These people and Satan, of course, want us to keep believing it. 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 "For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light. 15 It is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness. But their end shall be according to their works."
What better way to get people to believe Satan's first lie than to make them think it's taught from God!
Ezekiel 18:4 is where the REAL truth is restated in no uncertain terms. The statement is plain, clear, and in no way symbolic as the surrounding context shows. It reads, "Look! All the souls—to me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son—to me they belong. The soul that is sinning—it itself will die."
Those of you who claim to have studied this for years ought to know that the Hebrew word translated "soul" is נפשׁ
nephesh
neh'-fesh
From H5314; properly a breathing creature, that is, animal or (abstractly) vitality; used very widely in a literal, accommodated or figurative sense (bodily or mental): - any, appetite, beast, body, breath, creature
What part of this definition implies immortality?
The same word (nephesh) is found at Genesis 1:20 when God created animals. He called them souls, too.
Genesis 2:7 says that when God brought the man he had formed from the dust to life that he BECAME a living soul, not that he was given one. Then later, of course, God told Adam he (the soul, which is what Adam is) would die if he disobeyed!

Quite true. ' Anomaly ' explains it very well. Just one little point to add,as we are all sinners we all die. Jesus didn't say we would be free from sin in our lifetime, if this were so we would no longer die "for the wages sin pays is death", so if we were free of sin we would live forever. Romans 6:23. The immortality of the soul is a pagan concept, hijacked by Satan and passed off as a Christian teaching

Yes, it can die. Ez. 18:4, 20 says: "The soul that is sinning, it itself will die."
Nowhere in the Bible does it speak of an immortal soul.

The data that the soul dies is overwhelming. people who carry onto pagan notions of a soul that lives on after dying would desire to, by ability of decision, proceed to be blind to all of the data around them. I did notice that one individual posting right here helps the 'immortal' soul coaching yet speaks approximately somebody thrown into the lake of sulfur as ceasing to exist. that's what the Bible teaches. yet that individual is at odds with many different contributors of Christendom who have self belief that a individual's torment is eternal while in hell or Gehenna. superb ot see some coming around to an precise wisdom of a few issues.

I don´t know why there is no verse in the bible that says that is inmortal, in fact if the prize that God gives to people that will go to heaven is inmortality means that they didn´t have it before.
Ezekiel 18:4 " Look! All the souls—to me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son—to me they belong. The soul that is sinning—it itself will die. "

Short and to the point:
EXACTLY!!! Steven i agree with you 110% Sadly, many people honestly believe what the leaders of their religion are telling them, even if it is without prove from the Bible. Its sad but it happens, if people would only open their Bibles and check for themselves they would not be fooled.

No soul. It is funny that up to the end of the 17th century the word soul simplyy meant a person. Ships companies were listed as a number of souls unti into the 18th century.
Dead people were counted as corpses.

you have read the wrong bible because in my bible the only that can die is only the fresh. the souls cannot and will never die, if our souls die how are we going stand before God on the last day of judgment. the soul i the only thing in our body that cannot die but live to see God or rot in hell with Satan.

I am a person who has done research on religions for the last 37+ years and have just about every bible out in the world, ancient texts of just about every religion and FIND nothing to substantiate your FINDINGS. Nowhere in the Tanakh or New Testament scriptures is there a mention of "the Soul can die" and in the New Testament it DOES state that the soul has the ability to live ETERNALLY "or" as you stated it, "Soul can not die."
Life eternal, as was the message of Jesus, IS that the soul of a person gets to live BEYOND that of the existance in the flesh. Another FACT he presented IS that even the evil ones LIVE after they cease to exist in the flesh, so sorry to burst your bubble but you must be reading the papyri of my faith for THERE, the evil ones OR those found unworthy to enter heaven are DESTROYED and DO NOT get to live an eternal existance in the flesh OR spirit........
