I think it is probably easier for people who are completely sure of what they believe. I have alot of religious friends who are satisfied in their beliefs and more comfortable somehow about their future. They are trusting in what has been told to them. For me, somewhat of a skeptic by nature it is harder. I want to believe there is something more but it's hard to in light of scientific facts and the propoganda that organized religion perpetuates.
Yet, when I see a beautiful sunset, or a beautiful mountain I'm sure there must be a God.

You know what I think the most overused phrase is these days? Belief system. It goes along with the much overused notion that everyone needs one of these "belief systems" in order to be happy.
I have indeed "experienced an atheist", being one myself, and also having been married to one for 16 years.
It is not at all hard to go through life without a belief in a higher power. Life is what it is. Sometimes there is pure joy, sometimes there is sorrow. Most often, there is something that falls somewhere between the two. What else is there to do but go through our lives, doing the best we can? We have hope. We also have goals. And we realize that there is much that we don't know. I don't need to sugar-coat my life in order to make it more meaningful and fulfilling.

Atheists have a belief system- it's called morals. They do the right thing because it is the right thing, not because of belief in a deity.
The Dalai Lama is an atheist, in that he does not believe in God. Do you think he has no belief system of finds it hard to go through life?

if you cannot conceive of someone living without what you define as a belief system/higher power, that is your right.
but humans always have different perspectives and think differently; to someone else it is just as inconceivable that some people believe in things they can never tangeably observe - and that living life based upon the expectations of an unknowable being would be impossible.
To each their own.

Just help with day to day stuff. when ever you want to know how something works you go to the manufacturer and read the directions. God created us and he left a book of instructions behind for us to follow. If a person is in a place or church where they don't feel they are hearing anything filling those voids then they should look for another place or worship. God is here to answer all of our wants and needs. He created us all for a purpose with special gifts. If you aren't using them for what he planned then of course you feel lost. Consult the the manufacturer!

I've head addicts say the same thing about drugs. It's no harder to live your life without a god, unless you've developed a dependency.

Is this the reason why one should believe? To make one's life easier?

We all have belief systems and they all came from the same thing. We have sometimes different names for the thing, and some haven't found an understanding of that thing yet, but they will one day, and all will be fine.

I am an Atheist so my experience with them is very extensive.. I have a belief system it simply does not include what I consider a fictional deity..
Just because someones belief system is not like yours doesn't mean they don't have one.. To assume so is very condescending don't you agree..

Yes, I just so happen to be an atheist and the only thing that I believe in is empirical evidence and the scientific method. That's my belief system.
