did you know that in the bible it says speaking in tounges is a testamony for you unbelievers

do you think we christians make it up?

do you think we are drunk just like people thought the diciples were?

or do you call a scientist to examine us and come to a conclusion other that that the holy spirit has come upon us?

what is your excuse for the speaking in tounges that no other religion can counterfeit?

Atheists are just ignorant...that's all...they are just not smart enough to realize that we all just didn't pop up out of no where and that we did not evolve over time. Christains have nothing to prove because the Bible proves its self true everyday because when science tries to prove it wrong they end up proving that the Bible is true.

In order:

It's a hoax.
Yes, but the bible also says that there are talking snakes and donkeys, so its credibility isn't very high.
Yes.
Who knows?
A linguist would be able to tell if the person was speaking a language, or just nonsensical gibberish. If it is a language (or many), it should be determined that said person doesn't actually speak that language (or languages) prior to the 'event'. If it's not a language, then no further testing is required, since it's a hozx.
No need for an excuse. All religions maintain some form of nonsensical, and unverifible (in the actual world) background, and yours is no different.

" guess the bible was right when it said the word of God is made foolish to those that dont believe" This is called a 'fail-safe device'. It's included, as are the passages that the faithful will be persecuted, to maintain a control over those weak enough to believe. Like heaven, it is a panacea. It has no concrete value, and only reinforces a positive feeling for those who can't (or won't) look beyond a bronze age myth for answers. It's a nice way of saying "buck up little camper..."

No other religion can counterfeit?

I can start babbling nonsense right now without a moment's notice... and I guarantee that it will be indistinguishable from other "speakers of tongues."

Oh, and btw... the biblical mention of speaking in tongues was actually about the holy spirit giving a blessing to the apostles that allowed them to be understood by anyone listening to them, no matter what language thay used. And, while that is still just a nice myth, it is nothing like the abject madness that people do now.

Edit:
Oh, and the "word of god" isn't made foolish to those that don't believe... it actually starts out that way. It's made "clear" once you've been indoctrinated and suspend all rationality.

Until you can translate your speech into something with some kind of meaning (cuz otherwise, really, what is the point?) then all I have to say is aoisht alksdjfq la;jfpeitjhn lanfontoi nalogn4 ladnv lagnenfgp4in#% 50#%$%j;a sljnt$#!

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

You said "guess the bible was right when it said the word of God is made foolish to those that dont believe" If you knew the word of god, why wouldn't you translate it for other people? Don't you care? Give us some examples if you really want to discuss this.

Why is it that the only people who speak in tongues are people who speak in tongues? In other words, no one does it spontaneously. They start doing it after they have learned how it's done by watching someone else do it.

If speaking in tongues is what happens when you are overtaken by the holy spirit, why don't all denominations have people who speak in tongues? Why is it only denomination-specific? Hmm, could it have something to do with the culture and socialization of those in that particular sect?

Speaking in tongues is a culture-specific self-induced state of mind. That's why only some people do it and why it isn't universal to all denominations or even religions.

It would not sound like a uniform language. maximum persons you have heard it from in all probability use the comparable phonemes, by way of fact they're in all probability all English audio equipment. yet glossolalia isn't a language. there is not any grammar, there is not any vocabulary. I tought myself to do it after seeing it interior the video i'm going to link. The translations are merely as pretend, or maybe easier to debunk. merely get somebody in there speaking an actually language, and watch the "non secular translators" fail miserably to get it good. whilst somebody speaks in tongues, one in all 2 issues happen. First, they're ecstatic, and comprehend that it somewhat is doubtless one in all the failings people do whilst they sense like they're crammed with the holy spirit, so because it somewhat is how they behave. it somewhat is suggestability. 2nd, they do no longer sense ecstatic, yet they comprehend that's what their acquaintances assume, and that in the event that they do no longer do it, they're going to be taken care of poorly socially by way of fact curiously the holy spirit would not fill them, so as that they pretend it.

I don't need a scientist to tell me what's going on. I've got a pretty good grasp of it. How about I stand on a street corner and speak in tongues? What do you think the general reaction of passerby would be? Would they need to bring in scientists to tell me I'm nuts?

edit: LOL Vin "100% pure weapons grade baloneium." that's awesome :)

I find it interesting that each group that "Speaks in Tongues" does so using the syntax and grammar of their normal language. In short it is strictly gibberish. French people speak French gibberish, Americans speak American Gibberish and so on. No consistency at all.
