Come on, give me a break!!! Illegal immigrant pay taxes just like everybody, and many of them don't get a tax return. They pay social security taxes and when they are ready to retire they don't get retirement benefits because they are illegal and they don't qualify. But they qualify to pay the 6% of their gross earnings and don't get SS benefits? Please. ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS PAY TAXES JUST LIKE EVERYBODY, SO STOP SAYING THAT YOU PAID FOR THEIR KIDS EDUCATION AND FOOD.

BS. The only taxes they are paying is on the alcohol they purchase. Their wages are being paid off the books.

If you have something called an Earned Income Credit, you don't pay taxes like everyone else. Poor people have EIC and most times, they get refunds. So, no, they do not pay taxes. If they are here with someone else's SS# which many are, that's a problem for the actual SS# holder. It's Identity theft. I live in California and our State pays almost 12billion a year in subsidies for illegals - welfare, food stamps/ WIC program, Medicare/Medical health care, housing, utilities, child care, schooling. Jail/Prison costs. They are a drain on the State. Illegal is illegal.

They pay taxes, they just cost more money in social programs and welfare systems than they pay in taxes.

""Households headed by illegal aliens imposed more than $26.3 billion in costs on the federal government in 2002 and paid only $16 billion in taxes, creating a net fiscal deficit of almost $10.4 billion, or $2,700 per illegal household.""

More illegals now than 5 years ago for this study so the deficit is greater now im sure.

Actually Social Security is 12% of a person's earnings, 6% is paid by the person and 6% is paid by the employer on behalf of that person, it still is factored in your overall paid in Social Security. They also pay Medicare tax which is 2% of the income earned regardless of if a person has 50 kids just like Social security doesn't take into account depedents. Also there is federal income tax based on your earnings and dependents, state tax, property tax and sales tax.

Jimmy, you might want to do some research before you make such an accusation. IN fact they have a better compliance rate percentage wise than the federal government does with US citizens. 90% pay and file their returns without any problem.

Here is my source for those who argue that they work off the books many do yes but they still file their taxes according to the IRS.

Even if they are working under the table, they still pay, sales tax, gas tax, property tax (either directly or through a landlord) and many others.

That said, I wish they would go home and clean up the problems in their own countries and leave a few fewer problems for us to fix here.

how do you figure? the employer wouldnt bother hiring them if they sat down and filled out a tax form, its under the table cash they want. I guess here and there a few have some stolen ss#'s, but i dont think that much tax is taken out of the majority. maybe i am wrong. prove me wrong. I know that many legal americans are leeches too, and abusing the system, so I dont even want to talk about that.

Every foreign citizen who is physically present in the US for 183 days is a US resident for tax purposes. In Chicago, they can even register to vote in school-board elections.

Most are paying taxes (though many are using assumed social security numbers and so do not file for tax refunds). If they are not paying taxes, it is because they are off the books, in which case their employer is paying the tax because he cannot deduct the expense on his return.

Oh - I never saw an IRS auditor report an alien to INS and I never saw INS report stolen social security numbers to IRS (We just took their phony social security cards and other IDs and threw them in the garbage).

A large number of illegals, like some citizens, work off the books. Do you honestly believe that these earnings are properly reported and taxed by either the employer or the illegal?

They do pay taxes but not like the way we do. They pay tax on stuff they buy from stores. That's it.

Also, most illegal immigrants don't stay in the US. They make the money they need and go back to their country rich.

Please, you can spin it any way you like, they take out a hell of a lot more then they put in. when your standing in line at the market, and someone is ahead of you is using food stamps to make their purchase, I'm I to believe that they paid for those stamps? No, Americans did. Illegals get health care paid for by the American tax payer (your welcome) Illegals can also send their kids to school on our dime, not only that but we're expected to teach them in their language because they don't want to assimilate into the country they now want to call home.

To be honest, none for this would bother me that much if they didn't act like we owed all this to them. They act as if all this is some sort of birthright, and they could suck on the American tax payer teat, while criticizing us for not making it easier to take unfair advantage of the system.

One more thing, I'm sure your going to try to call me out for grouping all illegals into "they". Before you do, read your question again, you did the same.

how can they pay taxes if they work under the table? It doesn't matter they are illegal and don't have the right to be here in the first place!
