I've had the same problem since I was 4. Everyone said it was growing pains. You don't have growing pains constantly for 10 years!!! Anyway, I found out a few years ago that I have fibromyalgia. When I was your age, I had a lot of joint pains and it hurt when I ran for a long time or played my flute. My fingers would ache nonstop. I also felt tired or worn out. My parents thought I was lazy. At least that's what I thought at the time. They just kind of overlooked this all as me being a complainer. Please talk to your parents into taking you to a general practitioner or rheumatologist. Even if you don't have fibromyalgia,( which I hope you don't) you could have arthritis or something else. I was also diagnosed at your age with (spelling?) Osgood Schlatters disease in my knees. This causes a lot of joint pain in the knees also. I hope you can get some help. One thing that has helped for me is taking a warm bath with 16 0z. hydrogen peroxide, 3 tbl. ground ginger, and 3 cups of epsom salt. If you let all this dissolve and then soak for about 20 minutes, it will take away all or most of this pain. Trust me, I didn't believe it at first because I hurt so bad all the time. When I actually tried it, I felt great and was able to sleep all night with no pain meds.

Hey Jello Rat,
You are so lucky to have the internet to help you. I would suggest you ask your doctor if it could be fibromyalgia. It sounds similar to pains I have, and I have fibromyalgia. I started having the first symptoms of it at 9 years old, but fibromyalgia was not as well known at that time, so it took until I was 41 to be diagnosed.

No, you shouldn't be worried. It isn't fatal, if this is even what you have. Growing pains are a diagnostic symptom for fibromyalgia, so if you have had them, be sure to mention that to your doctor. No matter what it is that's bothering you, don't worry about it before you know what it is. That just makes you feel worse, and you don't need that! After you get diagnosed, you can start to work on your condition and getting to feeling better. Good luck.

First - THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "GROWING PAINS" ASK YOUR DR.!!!!! I say ask your Dr. because you are going to make an appt. right?? : ) My guess is that it is diet related. He will probably do a blood test and then that way you will have a better idea. It could be other things too, that no one here is educated enough to know about. That is why you need to go to that Dr. of yours!!! And yes, that many Ibuprofen is not good for you. Tell the Dr.s office it is URGENT. Good Luck Hon! Just think how good you will feel when it is all over and no more pain!!

Perhaps tendonitis? Do you run or play sports alot (I don't mean Phys ed. I mean serious soccer and stuff)
Also, do you have a year round tan? Does it feel like there is no cartilage cushioning your joints, just bone scraping against bone? If yes, you may have a disorder where your body can not remove iron from your blood. It's dangerous if untreated, but tolerable. (You donate a bunch of blood as part of the treatment) Research it though before you have a panic attack. I hope that helped.

It sounds like you need to see a rheumatologist to make sure that you are not suffering from arthritis or a condition similar to it.

You may not be, but it would be wise to make sure.

It's hard not to be worried when your body hurts and you do not know why. The best step you can take to alleviate your worries is to see a specialist for an evaluation.

I hope you will find that there is nothing serious going on.

I have REAL BAD cramps in my legs sometimes. I'm only 14 though and my mom gets them too every now and then. I can't really move or breath at all. All I can do is hold my leg where it hurts. My mama told me to stand up and put pressure on it, but I can't make my self get up. That only happens at night though. It's happened to me about 3 times in 5 months. Right when it starts hurtin, I wake up. Is that what your leg feels like?
