Its a loong process... Find some sad music that makes you think about your relationship and listen to it. connect your memories to those songs and then after a few days avoid those songs completely. If the heart break is strongly on your mind, play the songs to completely strengthen that connection...this way when the music isnt playing the memory will be less prominent. Then, surround yourself with positive things to make you happy and occupied..be it a sport.. scrapbooking, dancing, window shopping a BUNCH(so you dont spend to much lol).
I know the most difficult time is at night when you are alone with your thoughts. if you keep busy throughout the day hopefully you will be exhausted enough to just pass out. If not.. try finding a movie or television show that makes you happy that you can focus on before you say lights out.
A key thing to do is have someone who will lend an ear when you need to get things out..but once you find yourself repeating the same things over and over, let it go... you're just imbedding it in your own mind and i can almost guarantee your friend has stopped listening because they can recite your rant back to you.
It's a hard process. Eventually you will realize you're over it!

Time is the greatest healer of a broken heart. We as humans are lucky that we have such a powerful instument that is capable of curing itself of that awful disease known as broken heartsickness. Fact is that throughout our lives majority of us have our heart broken on more then one occassion. But also a fact is that we are usually responsible for breaking more then one heart ourselves. But being the most important organ to us all with this ailment it is quiet capable of mending itself if we allow it the proper time to grieve the loss. Best of luck and please allow yourself some time before coming involved in another relationship too quickly so your heart can heal properly.

You have to do things that make you feel good and keep your mind off what broke your heart. It won't work all the time, but in time things will get easier.
