Dreaming that you are a wizard means that you seek to control your life. A broken or lost wand means that others control you. My guess you are still living at home or that your parents are a major influence in your life. As you find your own way in the world, these dreams should change

you probably just have too much of the Harry Potter movies that's why you bring them even in your sleep. Your wand won't work because it isn't yours, it's Harry's (",)

According to Dreamcrowd:

To see or read a book in your dream, suggests that you are trying to change or rewrite the past to suit your own needs. Consider what is written in the journal and how it is similar or dissimilar to actual events in your waking life. Alternatively, it symbolizes memories and history. To dream that someone is reading your journal, indicates that you are keeping secrets. You have difficulties telling others how you really feel.

My take on it is that you want to believe in magic because it would be great if it were true but your mind knows it's not true.
Magic is ok for children but we must outgrow it. I think you're ready to outgrow it. Welcome to the real world.
