Ok so you all say "the big bang theory" and "evolution" or whatever- but still- where did the matter come from that created these things? What made everything just go POOF one day and create the atmosphere, earth, etc. And what about our very distinct and indepth DNA and makeup?

let's cut to the chase shall we, at some point if you keep asking questions i'm going to say i don't know. but you don't know either. my way, i can try to find out. your way, you have no questions left because 'god did it' trivially answers all questions without adding any new information about how the world works, so you can never find out any more than you already know.

Though I'm a Christian, I think I can answer this for you.

Since forever, there was a mass the size of a period on a sheet of paper. Inside the mass was energy that has always been building up. Suddenly, the energy built up so much that the mass exploded, causing everything to expand from that original spot. From that began the evolutionary process. Stars, planets, and other universal bodies formed. Then slowly, atmospheres developed through gasses that escaped from inside the different masses. Eventually, somewhere along the timeline, our mass found the Sun to begin orbiting. The warmth and gasses and other supposed factors mixed. A lightning bolt struck at a perfect place where there was a lot of nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and other elements that would allow the most basic of amino acids to form, then that happened billions of times, and those formed into single-celled organisms, and from there you should know the evolutionary process.

There are many theories about DNA, one of the most popular is that the first people were comprised of RNA, and after many many many years of evolution, DNA formed.

The matter that started this all is their version of God. We believe God always existed, and they believe the matter always existed.

Although, there are also theories that God aided evolution, but I really don't believe in mixing God's Word with a theory and coming up with a truthful theory.

Yeah, and what about your InvisibleSkyPixie - where did he spring from?
And don't be telling me about InvisibleSkyPixie being outside the laws of LogicReasonSpaceTime.
Either the laws of LogicReasonSpaceTime apply to everything or not - you can't pick and choose.
If you do, then I can say all the stuff was in the BigBang already cos it just was and why can't you understand that?
See how silly and childish that sounds?

I know this is gonna make no difference to a TrueBeliever - I just do it cos there might be someone with half a brain out there somewhere looking for different ways of looking at stuff.

GoodLuck.

[edit]
"What made everything just go POOF one day and create the atmosphere, earth, etc"
I'm surprised you asked this in this manner cos this is how your sort think that GODDIDIT.

Cosmology suggests this took billions of years - there were no POOFs involved.

The absence of knowledge sufficient to the answer the question of origins does not negate evolution or the big bang. The evidence is their. There are hypotheses that are difficult to test, but they are being tested. There is no reason to believe the mass-energy of the universe is not eternal.

"Going POOF" is a theistic assertion, with no evidence to support it.

The distinct and in depth DNA comes from years of evolution. The matter for the big bang? No one knows. Maybe it just always was. It's no less understandable than god always being.

Those are the real questions. Science has done a superb job of explaining events AFTER the big bang and how evolution was the process that resulted in the vast diversity of our planet AFTER the advent of DNA (or RNA) . I'm a life long atheist but am suspicious that the big bang and DNA might have been the work of a vast intelligence (but not necessarily God).

We don't know the answer of where everything came from but I would rather not know than believe in lies. Here's a question for you: Where did come from? How is he different than matter, who created him? DNA is the work of the long process of evolution.

Not all atheists say those things.

As for what made those things happen, scientists will tell you "We don't know, but we are trying to find out"

Trying to learn about things is the essence of SCIENCE, not necessarily of atheism.

By the way, there are Christians who believe in the big bang and evolution.

Maybe matter always existed, but in a different form.

And newsflash kiddie, there wasn't a "poof" and then planets and an atmosphere, that stuff took a long long time.

science isn't just for atheists.

other rational people are into science, too.

and neither the earth nor the universe were ever created in just "one day." Not even ancient books of fairie tales claim that.
