I got a bacteria infection. I am currently on medication and nitrofuran monohyd macro 100mg is the drug that was prescribed for me. I take it twice a day and feel sick everytime i do so. Could anyone tell me if this is a normal thing? Thanks a lot.

If you feel nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, those are some of the side effects of nitrofurantoin. Take the medicine with food and chew gum or eat yogurt to minimize those effects. Drink plenty of water, unless your doctor told you not to. If you have any other side effects, talk to your doctor.

No You must tell your MD about this side effect. You should not be getting sick on a med that is supposed to make you better. Not everyone can take the same things. that's why there is such a varitety of medications on the market.

Urinary tract infections take time to disappear. People with UTI feel sick. Take lots of fluids.
