Are you crazy. No; not in England.
In South of France a while back, coming back from the fair at night, we got totally lost. It was really dark and after walking for hours we slept in a field.. but it was a really warm night anyway.
When we woke up in morning (daylight) we found we were at the back of the campsite and our tent was like 5 minutes away rofl.

confident like it. Do loads of river journeys the place you may somewhat carry each thing you need to be comfortable. Take some motorcycle journeys throughout the 365 days and each now and then get caught out interior the boonies and have no longer something however the napping bag. no longer as undesirable as people make out as long as you're taking a while to coach. The worst factor you need to be stressful approximately this present day and time are people searching for hardship. I continuously examine by skill of the closest domicile to the place I plan on camping out and enable them to renowned who i'm and what i'm doing and have on no account had any issues. supply it a attempt!!! now's the time till now the bugs get too undesirable.

Not counting military days
Have in Colorado and Wyoming wilderness areas. Used a warm sleeping bag. Placed under pine trees. Pine needles as bedding. Now that I’m older must admit I do prefer the creature comforts of a good RV or travel trailer.

I have once on a backpacking trip to the Cloud Peak Wilderness area in the Bighorns. Our counselor (it was summer camp) made us do it the first night. I was kinda freaked out, but we made it. I've slept in a tent ever since. ;)

I've had to shelter a few times on big climbs. The most memorable was on the Matterhorn 100 metres down from the summit during a thunderstorm.

you have to cover yourself with something as the dew comes down in the morning and you wake up freezing.
If you get a good fire going you will be OK. Unless it rains of course.
I had one of those waterproof suits , there great you can fall asleep anywhere.
Before that Bin liners are OK, nice to sleep under the stars.
But watch out for the bugs, ticks and things if your in the country.
Have to take loads of clothes as the UK gets cold even in the summer

sure plenty of times - i was in the army - sometimes we didn't have times to pitch our tents - we just dropped our rucks (rucksack - backpack) and crashed - sometimes we broke out our sleeping bags and slept on the ground
make sure your head is above your feet - otherwise you'll wake up with a headache -

In the desert in Jordan with some blankets and a campfire.
Amazing stars.
It was OK but you wake up very early in the sunlight
