The wire you need will be found at the steering column, NOT behind the radio. There is a plug at the steering column with many wires in it; your wire is light green in pin location B31:

To verify that you have the correct wire, use a digital multimeter. NEVER test steering column wires with a test light (even a "computer safe" test light) or any other test device except a digital multimeter. The correct wire should show a voltage that changes significantly as you press the various steering wheel control buttons. You will need to have the vehicle's key in the ACC position while testing.

'sixty 8 Firebird... .350 engine duel carb. extraordinary potential. And it became a metallic blue, the only problem became as quickly as we took it in to get the engine rebuilt we've been so proud. We went in to %. it up. a terrific hunter green, convertible. We placed it in opposite, backed the nice and comfortable sucker out of the storage, and placed it in force and SOB, the G#D d#*m transmission went out proper there on the storage the place we had the engine repaired. F#*ok!! ultimately we've been provided that sucker on the line and had a helluva good time until my son became born and we had to get a 'family contributors' automobile. Oh for those good previous days.
