The Bible removes guilt? Really? Is that after you get over the horror of the Old Testament? Touche!

The purpose of the Gospel is to free you from guilt.
I see you never learned your lessons very well.

it depends on the families views i think...if your going to church as a family and they go to sunday school they are kinda getting bible study then...but for a more involved bible study then i think its when a kid shows an interest to learn from the bible (sure as a parent we have to always offer it) but you can see in a child when they are interested....i picked up mine at 14 and studied it not with a group but on my own.....not sure if that answers question take care

I don't think children should ever be burdened with guilt. It is guilt that Christ came to remove not instill. See Romans 8:1. Grace removes guilt and shame. Manipulating a child with guilt and shame is not a wise move. Trust me, it takes years of therapy to unlearn.

If you have to teach them about the Bible, why not wait until they have developed some critical thinking skills and can separate fact from fantasy. They should not be exposed to religion before that age of 12 (at least).

My grand daughter just turned one year. I told my daughter to start teaching her prayers and tell her like I told my children, "I can't always see what you are doing, but God can." My son lied to me about something when he was three. I related the above and told him to go ask God for forgiveness. It was so cute, I peeked in the bedroom and he was on his back with his knees crossed, and his hands folded together, asking forgiveness. I think it helps to keep them out of trouble if they feel someone is watching over their shoulder. You can also add that God is also watching over them.

>>When is the right time to start burdening children with guilt?<<

I take it you never intend on teaching your children right from wrong, lest they feel culpable for their offenses. I'm sure society will thank you for rearing sociopaths.

Guilt: "a feeling of culpability for offenses"
Profile of the Sociopath: "Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt"

I assume you are equating Bible studies with making people guilty. Funny. Do you feel guilty? You do realize that Jesus came to save, not to condemn, right? To your second question, I would say children should be taught about God as soon as possible.

"the law is a schoolmaster to lead us to Christ". Guilt has its positive result. You don't have to be religious to have guilt, it is common with humanity. All are forgiven in Christ.
