since we cant spot reduce body fat the only way to get rid of it on any specific areas is by lowering body fat percentage which you achieve by healthy diet and cardio.
situps, crunches etc wont help - all they do is build muscle, they dont burn fat so will make your belly look bigger.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio is the only fat burning exercise and burns fat all over your body (running, jogging, swimming, spinning, elliptical etc) 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

A good way to loose weight is to use a calorie counter watch
Keep to a 1,200 food intake
Add 1,200 plus 3,500 (equals one pound of fat) ...and that is the total amount of calories you need to burn each day. Its actually really easy once you start watching the numbers and it doesn't seem like work or exercise. Its just a matter of changing the way you think about loosing weight.
I use this method when i gain some pounds. The first time I did this I went from 168 to 127

try holding a weight in each hand and hands down by your sides and pull down with one hand using the weight as a pully system to cause the other side to stretch with the extra weight on it. do about 25 reps for each side. it is tough, b/c i am trying the same thing and it is hard. try to stay focused. And remember the famous slogan: No Pain No Gain, well.. in our case No Pain No Weight Loss.

Cardio is the best way to get started, followed by light to moderate weight training. weight lifting burns fat longer than cardio. I suggest cycling to start. consult your doctor before starting any diets or weight loss programs.

do crunches/sit-ups. dun have to do it many times but just make sure you increase the resistance. it'll be more effective than doing many crunches.
