To above guy: yes, pay is a little higher, but you NEVER catch up on sleep!
To Mom above: night shift is not the same as being a mommy. At least children don't need you ALL NIGHT LONG! except on rare occasions.
I worked shift work for many years, as a nurse. I worked L&D, or newborn ICU - the patients in these departments either don't sleep [ labor! ], or sleep long enough for you to take care of the babe in the next isolette, then they are awake again.
I never got used to working nights, even when I did it full time. I did manage to permanently screw up my sleep cycles, though.
Can you listen to music while you install carpet, and is there anyone to talk to while you work?

No thank goodness i work days,It;s bad enough trying to get to sleep in the summer; when it;s still light out.I can;t imagine working your hours; as you have to get used; to sleeping days; and that take a long time to get adjusted tp it..It;s probably better as no one to hassle you; just do your work in a quite area indoors; yea that rocks,,
