Owned a 05 Magnum RT AWD with the 5.7L MDS. Owners manual states to use 89 Octane any higher you are just wasting your money as the higher Octane will not gain you any power.

However, I did several tests on my Magnum and I actually got better MPG using 87 Octane and did not lose much for over all power. You can use 87 Octane as the Hemi has anti knock sensors to eliminate any engine damage.

If you have a Superchips programmer for your charger and place it on performance module....then you will require 91 Octane.

Only the SRT8 Charger, 300 & Magnum of the LX platform require 91 Octane with the 6.1L Hemi.

id try it on 87 octane and see how it runs, its supposed to run good on it,i have seen a lot of them run really good ,just on regular, but if it doesn't go to a mid grade,i don't think its necessary to run premium in it, unless it has the hemi in it,those it does make a difference on,good luck on it.

Look in the owner's manual and see what fuel is required. It is listed in there.s s There may even be stickers on the gas door. Not using the proper fuel will have your car not performed as well as it was designed to. It may even cause mechanical problems in the long run.

What does your owner's manual say?

If your Road Toad has higher compression and needs the higher octane fuel, you'll need to pay the extra shekel or two.

If it doesn't, you'll be wasting your money.
