I'm not sure. Because gravity and evolution are both theories... hmmm. Even though most people think that evolution is a hypothesis and gravity is a fact... sad.
It does seem like evolution is breaking down many organized religions because of their Intelligent design hypothesis. People are "slowly" realizing that evolution is obvious.
And to the person that said "humans aren't evolving" she obviously doesn't know anything about evolution.

A lot of Intelligent design folks are just following the party line, and very rarely do they do any independant study. However the theory of evolution is evolving, we now know that the first modern day woman and man are roughly 150,000 years old.
Those "facts" took a lot of science to piece together and no amount of theory will discount some of the discovered facts. However is man evolving? His appendix is rudimentary and future generations may or may not lose their wisdom teeth. Maybe man's head will become too big and more women wil have to have a cesarian to give birth?
Gravity and volcanism doesn't have much spirtuality content but psychic research may discover some spiritual properties, just not right now.
No religion did not fall when the heliocentric fact was proven, and evolution will not cause religion to fall either if proven. However maybe some scientists need to be more forgiving and patient with their less scientific religion believers. There will be idiots who will rile them up for their own agendas.

To Lil Momma - Evolution takes millions of years to occur and could produce as little as a small change in the behavior, physical appearance, or mentality of the being. Evolution isn't something that takes a few days or even a few years.
In turn to your question, I completely agree. Evolution is widely disputed, simply because it's a theory that cannot be proven. As a matter of fact, most things in science are theories because they cannot be 100% proven. We accept them as theories and laws because 9 times out of 10, that's the case, but we leave room for doubt, room for change, room for error. Religion is a flawless system that cannot be beat, and religious arguers will tell you that they know everything about their religion, and I'll tell you this - solely because it's all written out for them. There's absolutely no other source they could use or thinking on their own.
Evolution, other scientific theories and laws, take a bit of thinking, a bit of individual interpreting, and a bit of logic and reason to conjure up. It's all a puzzle, but without every single piece, it will never be complete.
If you're missing fifty pieces of a two-thousand piece jog saw puzzle, is the entire thing ruined? No! Of course not! The whole puzzle isn't wrong, simply because fifty or so pieces are missing, one area is just a little cloudy - not completely wrong.

they all are theorys.. that DONT have anything to do with R&S..
evolution, however, is a big part of the argument in Evolution Vs Intelligent Design

Evolution is not a fact. It’s a hypothesis that has never been proved.
Evolution claims, random change & natural selection make simple things spontaneously transform into more complex things without recourse to intelligent design. Chance and random changes simply do not produce higher levels of organization & complexity.

1) gravity is in the Bible. when Satan tried to get Jesus to jump down, I don't think he hoped the angels would catch him. besides, Newton was a Christian with no contrary preaching to God, so no fuss/
2) if you mean tectonic plates and stuff, hey something had to move the continents. when? dunno, don't really care. doesn't affect my salvation.
3) again, not contrary to God. God set order, He "set the stars in their places". we still call it sunrise regardless. so no worries.
evolution goes against the genesis story. how? simply because of the original text and the understanding of the day. the original word for "create" used was different for man than it was for the rest of creation. it imples that God molded us entirely, gave us a soul (a part of Him) and breathed life, a spirit into us while the beasts of the field were simply spoken into being; God went out of His way to make man, and not elevate man. in terms of understanding, there is an inuitian legend which tells of how a woman, mistreated by men, was left to freeze to death. her fingers were cut off, each figure turning into an arctic animal, which because of the woman's tribulation, hates man. personally, I think Moses would have understood if God had said "I took a fish and reformed him into a man" or "I made formyself an ape and elevated himself above the apes, making him man". to say evolution made us is to say God is not our creator, we have no souls or spirits, and that there is no afterlife.

According to Scripture NOTHING evolved but everything was created "AFTER THEIR KIND"....which is directly consistent with the fossil record.
The thing to remember is that evolution is just a theory, a speculation, an unproven assumption....not a proven fact.
"From the beginning of the Creation God made them male and female..."-- Jesus (Mk. 10:6)
Scripture says God SPOKE all things into existence with His Word:
" By the Word of the Lord were the heavens created, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.... For HE SPAKE AND IT WAS DONE; HE COMMANDED AND IT STOOD FAST". (psalm 33:6-9)

The process of evolution is fact and you are right, it is not a threat. But saying we are positive we descended from lower species, and that our origin is from evolution, steps outside of science. That is an important distinction.
